Hi Guys,
Need some advice re a recently demised 800XT.

Was monitoring temps during stress testing, when I noticed the PSU temps begining to rise. Turn my back for an instant, and all was black. Psu dead.

OK, took a week to get a repalcement(Shaw 860W). Powered up without the DC on the card and noticed Q10 (FDS6898A) give off a puff of smoke. Uh-o.

Applied the DC and Q10 went supa-nova and toast.

This mosfet is in cct with ISL6522 and I assume is part of the power supply regulation. My question is.....what do you think are the chances of simply replacing Q10 as a fix? Visually, all appears to be normal re ISL6522.
Any ideas as to possible scenarios for the destruction of the chip. The Card is stock and not OC'ed at the time.

Maybe I posted in the wrong place...thought you guys would be the most savvy when it came to voltage issues...any suggestions on the correct forum to use?

No harm in trying to replace it. At most, wasted time and some soldering experience.

Note that the so-8 power mosfets might have a drain pad mounted under the package that is also soldered to the board, making them harder to remove and replace.

Well, I have been spared the trauma of having to find out....The seller has agreed to RMA the card. Maybe I'll drop back this way one day to check out the volt mods ...ciao
