Here are some mounting plates I've laid out for the promie and vapochill for the A64/FX51. The pics are not drawn to scale but measurements are correct and atleast might help someone with a starting point to make there own.

I'm using 1/4" plexiglass.

That was the one I did. It was made from 3/8" plastic and it bends a bit more than I like when I tighten it down, but does the job ok.

Great job guys. Would you be intrested in selling one?

Jason,
Nice...what anti-condensation measures do you take with the vapo-9800? And obviously your shim sits lower than your core right? On mine when I had dry ice on it, the DI container contacted the core AND the shim, transferring so much cold to the shim that half the card froze up...lol

The mobo just died :(
I was hoping for a humble 280 x 9/ 5:4 bench......
But I'm now eyeing the Abit KV8, really really tempted right now.
The good news is the Prommie works significantly better than a 172w pelt at 18.8v with -30C liquid. Max was 551/427 on Car Low before, now testing it on a KT600 board without AGP voltage adjustments 564/432 on Car low, with some tearing of course :)

Thats just the wax paper on the Seal tape same stuff like that Seal string. I leave it there if not my fingers get the sticky stuff all over when I hold the card heh.
I have VGPU at 1.94v, VDDQ at 2.73v which was up from 2.68v or somewhere there, Vref at default of 1.41v, and VDD at 3.63v. I tried 1.5v Vref last time whjen on pelt, didn't help, but I might try it again with this improved cooling. Have good fannage over the heatsink cooling VDDQ regulator or some chip like that, and it still gets quite hot. Ramsinks came with the card so that's handled.
I think the combi/ratio between VDDQ/VDD/Vref is very important for overclock as well as for survival of the card. I think high VDD with low VDDQ/Vref can kill the card easier than say high VDD and high VDDQ. I also tried pulling the VDDQ and Vref further apart and artifacts soon started to appear, so I stick with VDDQ a little below 2X of Vref, that works good for me.

Heh, I doubt that I would be removing any of the mods, but if I do I'll let you know. Though its much easier for you to just buy some bigger VRs ;)

My Prometeia is mounted on my 9800 Pro by putting seal string on the edge, pressing hard, and putting an elastic band over one side of the cooling head. Really bulletproof setup .

But it works! No leaks. :)

Thanks for the bump, this thread is really useful.

I'm gonna try making a mounting kit for my socket-a vapo on my hercules 9800p tonight (just got one back from rma, doing 500/400 on water now).

Also I should post some pics of how I've mounted my prommy on my A64, I did it a little bit differently and re-used most of the components from the standard AMD kit.

Just what I was looking for! A custom mount for a Vapo/9800pro.
Man that looks good. I'm getting 500/770ish with WC but 550 or more would be a bonus as I have a spare Vapo Classic lying around.

Man I'm so glad I found this forum. I've learnt so much about modding everything possible & more.

A BIG :toast: to all XS members from an experienced OCer but a nOOb to EXTREME MODDING!!:D

Heya EXXXtreme guys.
I'm going to make a mount for my 9800XT but need to ask a few questions first.

a) how thick do I need the mounting plate to be?

b) same Q about the back plate?

c) Where do you guys get the neoprene that is shown in those pics for the Radeon mount?

Seems like it's sold as a hollow tube. Am I right?

Thanks,
Minh

srry bout double post but this thread needs to be up the top as its very handy.

I have a question then...
When I was modding a barton boxed cooler for my R9800SE (powercolor), I could only use 3mm wide bolts...
In the pictures, your bolts seem to be thicker than an M3 one, how is that?

1/4in plexi homedepot

1/4in same as front

homedepot in tubes just cut it and when ya tighten the back plate it will remain flat

ALSO 4-40 rod for the hold down bolts go to "LOWES" for that HW ;)

Thanks a bunch Mickey. Now what do I vapo, my 502/806 9800pro or my stock no-mods 9800XT....

Cheers,
Minh

Whoops, I forgot to mention that I'll be giving my Classic a R404 makeover.
Would that do the trick?

I'm running my 9800pro @ 500/806 now with just Asetek's Waterchill (GPU block only) & the temps measure on the back of the GPU are 34c-36c at full load.

I hope that this thread can become a sticky so that users wanting to mount their prommie/Vapochill on AMD64/VC etc can find out "how to" easily.

Maybe if I keep asking questions to keep this thread up the top???

Who do we ask to make this thread a sticky for its very useful info?

Cheers
Minh

Bump..

At the risk of spamming...
Very good thread for mounting Vapo & Prommy on AMD64 & 9800

It was kindda hard to find that, cuz long ago I saw it and wasn't ready to put the Classic on the 9800.... but now with that 9800SE, running no-vmods 472/391 with just a Zalman ZM80-HP I'm quite ready to push it further....

Major, one Q from me, man: What about condenzation? maybe some heater on the back of the card? Or it will heat it too much? :)

Sorry for posting in this old thread, but I've got a problem. I'm trying to mount a Mach II on my X800 Pro Vivo @ XT. There's no difference in mounting a Mach on a 9800 Pro/XT or a X800 Pro, imho, so I'd be interested in seeing some pictures of a mounted Mach II on those graphic cards, but unfortunately the pictures in this thread aren't available any more. Could anyone fix that up or PM me a link with some pics in it. Or has anybody got mounting plans for me?
TIA!
Greetz
