Hi guys, I used to play Janes Longbow2 back in the day and have been waiting for longbow3 that never turned up.
But today i can tell you to forget longbow and check this helicopter flight sim out. Its going to be hugh in the flight sim sector.>>>> DCS:Black Shark (

check out the screen shots and check the vids out also.There are few on youtube as well. i have been watchng this sim for a while the reason why im posting today is becuase the russian version has gone Gold, the western version should follow very soon.

Aye, Black Shark looks gorgeous. As far as I know it's an expansion to Lock On Modern Air Combat (which also has the Flaming Cliffs expansion).
Flaming cliffs does however use one of the nasty disc check programs, I think SecuROM, but I can't be sure. I don't know if they still use it on DCS:BS.
I'll be getting it as soon as I can afford it though (and as soon as I can get my throttle rewired for USB).

Black Shark is stand alone and not an add on to Lock On, it will be the first of a new series with other unknown add-ons to follow, I've heard rumours of A-10 next, we'll see.
According to posts over at SimHQ, Black Shark will have Starforce copy protection and a lot of enthusiasts say they will not buy it because of this ... I've only had one Starforce game and that did no damage to my system thankfully, but I do realise it damaged many others ... hopefully the version of SF they use will be more mature, but obviously I'd rather they chose another system of copy protection.
That aside, have been really looking fwd to this one and will probably buy it whatever, also hear that US and European versions wont be out until nearer Christmas due to the language translation still having to be done, all the more time to evaluate it from reading posts from users that do have it.

Yes correct its going to be Starforce.
Im looking forward to BS as well. probably buy a X52 Pro but will also buy the cyborg due to the force feed back yes i know what a waste of money.

wow, so black shark is finally gold. well those guys took their sweet time :D
but i wouldn't worry about the starforce protection. flaming cliffs is starforce protected as well and works fine. you only have to insert the disk once a week to be able to play. which is bearable i think. but what's even better, for over a year now deamon tools has been able to emulate the version of starforce used in fc. i never even have to use my original disk to play.

Yes Gold it is. not sure how long before the west see's it.
You should check out the previews by BeachAviator on You tube, if ever you had doubts about buying a Track IR ... then this sim will convince you you need it.
I'm really looking fwd to this now, Starforce or not.
