I think it's a great mod and it has one of the best game mechanics I've ever seen in team based multiplayer FPS, partly because you will loose if you don't play as a team.

Humans must survive (10mins or kill enough zombies) or complete objectives, dead humans spawn as zombies and add to the zombie spawn counter. Humans tend to rush through as a group or camp, zombies swarm and lurk.

My rig knocks out 100+ FPS with graphics maxed out (1920x1080, 8xAA 16AF) so it's not particularly demanding.

I hadn't heard of it until seeing your post.

Grabbed it last night, its good fun.. The team based really does work better then any other team based game I ever tried.

Its pretty simple, I mean, some other games out there have better 'potential' for having better team play but the players choose to ignore it and it never works.. But this mod actually makes it so simple there is no way to avoid it... team or die... great for a change from all the same FPS's out there.

thanks for the post

I played ZPS a bit around a week ago. It's pretty neat, but I do have some complaints:
- Combat feels kinda cheap/fake compared to a run-of-the-mill shooter. There's no real indication of anything really happening other than subtle red flashes on the display.
- Not enough weaponry. I can understand conservation dynamics and think they're fun, but when you NEVER have anything to attack a zombie with other than a delayed-action pipe that swings 5000 feet per second, it gets boring and pointless.

I'd enjoy it more if it were ZombieMod for CS and put into the ZPS maps with weapons being regulated by map layout instead of a buy system. ZM is a lot more engaging. BrainBread for the original HL was also a superb mix of gameplay dynamics.

Yup played for ~ 2 hours sometime last year, way to boring and not nearly enough ammo even for the most accurate of shooters IMO

Game is too boring. They gotta make hordes of zombies vs human players, while going through a story line of such. Just like hmmm Left 4 Dead!

I tried the mod and i was bored too. And the same was with also popular source mod Insurgency. They both didn't impress me at all, but I like CS:S and also played it a lot. But it's true that I played both mods for an hour or even less, maybe I should play them longer and see what happens. :)

Yeah I haven't tried it yet but I read one of the major 'problems' is that experienced players who know the maps grab all the good weapons and hole up right away...

Never played the Source version, but I remember playing the original version for Half Life.

That game was hilarious because the zombies and the humans looked almost identical so it was disorienting.

Game is too boring. They gotta make hordes of zombies vs human players, while going through a story line of such. Just like hmmm Left 4 Dead! The game is currently limited to 20 players, would work better with more. I find it is only boring if there aren't enough players for the map or if the humans don't cooperate well, hoard ammo and run off on their own.

It can be fun, but the game is still very buggy, and the servers aren't that great because the demand is very small. I actually just tried it out last week. It would be VERY fun at a LAN with friends, though.

Terrible, hated it!

Like previously stated, being a zombie blows because the humans find retardedly hard places to reach, like say a rooftoop, and there's no way you can get to them because when they shoot you, your whole body jumps back. And they always group up. So there's like 15 humans on a 5 by 5 rooftop and only 3 zombies trying to get to them, and you just end up dying over and over and over.

Gameplay felt stiff, too.

Waiting for L4D

I didn't like it either. The new mod I did like was Age of Chivalry! That one is fun.
