Hey,

Got my GTX260 fitted in over the weekend, but the temps are pretty horrible. Just done a fresh format, and I'm getting about 66*C idle 2D mode, 75*C idle 3D mode, and up to 90*C fully loaded in 3D Apps (Rthdribl, HL2 etc.).

The fan goes to 100% (very loud) within a few minutes of running 3D. The card totally crashes after about 15 seconds of Furmark, and has crashed several times running HL2 (freezes on a grey/yellow screen).

Other temps at load (from Everest): Memory 76C, Ambient 60C, VRM 70C. My case airflow isn't amazing, but certainly shouldn't be causing this:

Would XFX let me reseat the GPU cooler, or will I need to RMA the card?

Thanks,

Suman

What's your CPU cooler got to do with anything? XFX ain't going to care about that

In Europe the warranty isn't as lenient as the North American warranty. They won't let you remove the cooler.
It does sound like it is likely a faulty card. What kind of power supply are you using? Do you have another system you can try the card in to try to replicate the issue?
If the card is faulty than they will probably ask you to try exchanging it through your retailer first. That is how it usually happens in Europe.

Damn that sucks, I can't really afford the down time :(

I'm using an Enermax 600W PSU which is rock soild. It won't fit in my other system sadly (SFF).

Cheers,

Suman
