Im hoping I could get som help here!

Got a brand new XFX 790i Ultra SLI board a couple of days ago and I took it out for a spinn with my Q6600 G0 chip. I had no problem hitting 3.6 Ghz (took about 3 minutes) but then I figured I could take it higher (never had it higher than 3.3 before with a 680i chipset). No go what so ever! Tried a bunch of diffrent settings but no go at all. Ok, figured that the chip is no good.
Then I swaped the Q6600 for my E8400 and tried it out (had it stable at 4.2 with the 680i board) but to my suprise it was impossble to go above 3.6 Ghz! The computer wont POST no mather what settings I try! I tried to set the FSB to 401 Mhz but still no POST.
Is this a board error, should I RMA? I really hate RMA....
It has the latest BIOS

The rest of the setup is:
Two 8800GT SLI
Creative X-Fi Elite Pro
A small PCI-Express RAID card (dont remember the name of it right now)
150 Gb Raptor Disk
4 Gb (2x2) Corsair Twin3X 1600 Mhz DDR3 9-9-9-24
Cooler Master 700W Power Supply

Yes, I have the latest BIOS (downloaded the ISO-file and booted with a CD). I have also tried all diffrent voltagesettings. Very stange problem...

Ok, so I finally fix it I think. I pulled everything out and put it back in (for the third time) and that seems to have fixed the problem. I can get past 3.6 now without a problem. Weird! Seems like there is bad contact somewhere on my board...

Try looking at sites like this and setting them. Maybe you might need to revert back to one of the older bios. Let us know when you find out. I think the hardest problem is trying to figure out what the vdrop is. The volts are different in your bios than they are on the control panel.
