Hey guys,
Well I moved into my new place about 2 weeks ago and when looking around the room today noticed I have a completely unused draw... Then I noticed Wait a minute, I have a whole computer in parts missing only the CPU water block, reservoir and case... I could still build the computer in the draw in the mean time!
I'd been considering building it as an open system but to be honest I was worried that someone else might drop something on it or bump into it while it was exposed to the elements which is what stopped me, but in a draw, I could simply close the draw when it's not in use and Voila! No issues! Now I could probably keep the draw open when running the system as it will include a Q9550 and GTX 280, neither of which will be overclocked in the draw but we're still not talking optimal airflow here.
Is it a good or bad idea to temporarily build this in the draw until the case arrives? (Being laser cut, looking at 1-2 weeks I should think).
Here's what I have:
1 draw, big enough to fit a 3x 5.1/4 bay hard drive cage and GTX 280 with space to spare.

Asus Striker 2 Extreme
Q9550
GTX 280
300GB Velociraptor
8x Zalman ZM-F3 120mm fans
Scythe Kaze Master
2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz
I don't think I'll be cooling anything on water just yet as it won't fit in the draw and I don't want to have pipes coming out of one draw and maybe going into another or anything ^^
I would keep the draw 1/2 open when running and then just close it when off so as to keep it safe :)
Any suggestions, ideas, opinions? Please tell me if this is a good or terrible idea :ROTF:
