So I have all these old Koolance parts that I never used because I was too much of a wuss to install them at the time (5 years ago). Everything is 1/4" ID tubing and none of it has ever been used. The CPU block still has the sticker over the copper.

And the point of this thread would be.......

I think he's asking for an opinion ;):D

Personally i'd be very hesitant, is there any aluminium in that stuff?

Seriously, I would take all that, and install it in an Xbox 360 using the Koolance Xbox blocks, and that Lian-Li case that replaces the stock Xbox 360 chassis. It would be cool, and unnecessary.

I think the entire rad is aluminum.

Honestly, if it were me, I would take a very large outdoor leaf garbage bag....

No offense but you don't deserve that torture. You're better than that. Save yourself a lot of heartaches and headaches. Go buy some decent equipment.

I think its worth a shot. Is your CPU a 65 NM chip or a 45 NM? Also, compare the wattage of your processor to the wattage of the chip this kit was designed to cool. You can always try it and keep an eye on temps. Yes, that radiator is aluminum so use an anti corrosion fluid like antifreeze if that block is copper (which I think it is) and just ditch that HDD block so you'll have more flow.

Only thing to think about is if that pump is reliable (personally I have no idea) and if a 1/4" system can cool a quad. If you decide not to use it I might be interested in buying the kit off you.

i am currently using the same koolance radiator in my loop, and i have had no problems at all. Just voicing my opinion.

Isn't this the radiator that can dissipate more heat than a pa 120.3 in a wind tunnel with coolant that's 100C?

It'll handle a Q9450. Maybe not to the standards of many of our kits, but you'll definitely get some overclocking out of it.

I've never used one of those earlier Koolance blocks, but if they're newer ones are any indication, lapping the block might help things out a little, as would lapping the processor. And those are 80mm fans if I'm not mistaken, so they might be a little louder than you like.

the q9450 is a 45nm chip. temps under air @ stock 2.66ghz is ~47C under load, 28C-30C idle.

I'd say its worth a shot :) Just monitor it running orthos or prime 95 for a while and check the temps.

I'd be afraid, very afraid...

I run this 478 rig on a 4.5 yr old koolance kit (case). It runs a P4 3.2 Northwood on WCG 24/7. Temps stay in the high 30's-low 40's. Whether or not it can handle a quad.....I don't know. I would guess at stock--Yes, but OCed....couldn't tell ya.

Give it a shot....

Remember how all this started?

"Armed with the PIPBoy 2000 and meager equipment, which includes a small sum of bottle caps, which are used as currency in the post-apocalyptic world,
the protagonist is sent out into the remains of California to find another Water Chip."

Good Luck Vault Dweller!

^^ Lol. I <3 Fallout.

It will handle a q9450. The setup can handle 825 BTU/Hr (about 240 watts) @ 38C (about 100 degrees). I've tested a similar setup in a lab.

id think you'd do about the same on a TRUE or close to one.
