I bought Crysis through Steam recently and noticed right away that the sound was really low during the Crytek/Nvidia etc. credits. The sound came back during that little preview, except that I couldn't hear "my" (no control over the character at this pt.) gun. It seems like normal volume when I'm in the menu screen. In the opening scene with the transport plane, I can hear the engines but not the conversation btwn the pilot and ground control about the storm. Inside the plane, everything seems fine but, once we all jump out, I lose the sound from all other characters. I have to switch on subtitles to clue in to the narration. I couldn't find anything in the game, or my system settings, that looked wonky in any way.

I contacted Steam support, who advised that any Crysis issues have to go through EA support. I haven't heard from EA since they sent me an email advising that they'd reply in 24 hrs. That was a week ago.

Suggestions?

Thanks

edit: I used to play the CD version with no problems - got steam cuz I just couldn't handle the meatgrinder sound and was worried about putting the disc in my new lappy.

edit: too weird, I'd tried a reinstall with no change, but then I tried another reinstall and - success!

Yeah, it's working now. Bit of a pain, since it takes so long to install again in the steam games list. I have no idea what was going on:confused:, but it was actually kind of interesting playing that way. (for awhile)

I also learned to make sure to set up your EA support account under the same email linked to the steam account otherwise you'll get no response from EA. I didn't do that at first, but clued-in after the issue disappeared and EA support contacted me the next day.:p:
