Desiging cmputer hardware

Im just wondering what sort of degree do you need for designing computer hardware?

Something like electronic engineering?

I go to Cornell University and the degree here is electrical and computer engineering. You then specialize in areas such as digital vlsi and microprocessor architecture if you want to do computer hardware.

I am looking into getting into computer hardware design and I am currently a freshman in Computer & Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I think this is the right path to take, I think I will be dual majoring in EE and CSE
