Hi All,

My first post here.

I will have enough money to buy a new GFX card by xmas [i hope] but i read on the new GFX cards they are PCI-E 2.0, well i have a P5B Wifi Deluxe Mobo witch is just PCI-E.

As i cant afford both [mobo+GFX card] i wanted to no if one of the new GFX cards PCI-E 2.0 will work in my Mobo and what would be the difference if it would work [Performance ETC].

Thanks for any input here .

Cheers

Tim

My 9800GTX is PCI-E2.0 and it's working great.

PCI-E2.0 cards are also compatible with the previous version. The only difference is in bandwidth, other than that? Same thing.

You guys rock. I have the same mobo. I was just thinking about getting a new video card and noticed the same thing. My rig is 2 yrs old and haven't upgraded anything. I wouldn't mind extending the life of my components for a little more. Do you think adding new vid card and more ram makes any sense?

Your CPU is still fine, more RAM can never hurt, and I think it would definitely benefit from a better video card.

You could grab an HD 4850 or 4870 and you'd see a big jump in performance in most games, I would think.

Do you think adding new vid card and more ram makes any sense?I had an E6600 last week and went Quad mainly because I found a good deal on it and the E6600 goes to my 2nd rig along with a P5B-Plus, G.Skill HK RAM and GeForce 6800 GS. A hell of a lot of life left, at least another 3 years.

Personally I'd say get a Quad Core processor, they do help in away, I'm very pleased with my Q6600 ($150 used) and my 9800 GTX plays 1920x1200 mighty fine, UT3 looks great.

If you want to upgrade your video card too? Well, I'm considering the GTX 260 Core 216, it's very fast card and not bad for the price, hopefully they'll go down in price soon.
