The rig i was using was very very old, almost everything was onboard and i never had to install anything in special like drivers to get it going. I also was using XP.

So i just built a new rig and i am kinda lost. Could you give me tips on what drivers/softwares i should install to get the best out of this system? Like should i update the bios or just keep the one the board came with?

I am using Vista for the first time too(64bit) with SP1, what do you recommend me to install or uninstall?

Here is the specs

Motherboard: Asus P5Q Deluxe
CPU: Qx9650
Video Card: HD4870x2
Ram: 2x2GB Corsair 1066mhz
Hard Drives: 2xWD6400AAKS
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series

Any help is very appreciated!

Thank you

Always update to the most recent bios. Your mobo should have come with a cd with all of your drivers for your mobo. Likewise your gfx and sound cards should have come with driver cds. If not, I'm sure their respective websites have the most recent versions for download. Needless to say you should probably check for new versions anyway.

go to asus's web site and get all of the latest drivers, then go to ati, then install the creative cd, then update only the driver on creatives site

also never install any drivers from MS or windows update for MB/sound/video/networking
