Hey guys, since I build my computer in the beginning of the year, I have always been getting random BSOD's related to my memory. They're real random, sometimes they wont happen for a day, or a week.

Anyways, the most common message is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and that is supposedly related to bad memory or harddrive.

Just a overview, I am running 4GB (4x1GB) of Patriot DDR2 800 (4-4-4-12 @2.2v) and its on a Maximus Formula SE Motherboard flashed to the Rampage BIOS. In addition, I am running a WD Raptor X 150GB and a Samsung (I think) 300GB 7200rpm drive.

Just wondering what people can help me with, is it the ram, the motherboard, the harddrive or what?

I am also looking into buying some new ram, I would like to keep the price under $200, and I'm looking for some DDR2 1066. I was looking at the Corsair Dominators...

Thanks for the help in advance!

One of your memory sticks is probably bad. Have you tried running memtest?

Also, when all of your DIMM slots are populated, it's definitely not good for stability generally speaking. But since you're not running the memory at very high speed or low timings, I doubt it would have such a negative effect........unless one or more of your sticks was bad to begin with.

So try running memtest and see what you come up with. It might be best to run the test using two modules at a time rather than all four, as it would be easier to ferret out a bad stick.

As for new ram, you can't go wrong with either Corsair Dominators or OCZ Reapers.

I myself have 4GB of OCZ Reaper 1066, and it easily overclocked to 1125 (5-5-5-12 @ 2.1v)

The memory itself could go higher (maxed out at 1155), but my processor doesn't like running at a FSB higher than 450, and 4:5 ratio gives me the best performance.

hey thanks for the reply! I will have to try memtest... Glad to know its a cheap stick of ram and not my entire motherboard. Also, just note I am running the ram at their default settings. no overclocking.

what is your NB voltage try for 1.55-1.65 if u are actually at 4.2, and make sure that the NB dosnt go over 55c

then if u want new ram look at the mushkin assent 1066

My quad isn't at 4.2Ghz anymore, too much voltage and I don't want to kill the chip that quickly... Its at 3.6 now @ 1.392v. The NB voltage is at "auto". I will check that ram out zanzabar! Thanks for the help!

u will still need 1.5V+ on the NB
