I'm about to do a new install, with Vista Ultimate, and I dont know what to set up the Sata drives I have in the P5Q-Pro mobo.... I've heard comments on either, but also horror stories on AHCI - as well as better performance.
what say you?

Just use native AHCI. Though i have no clue what to think. I used to use IDE and have now switched to AHCI.
However Device Manager is still showing IDE devices under HDD controllers and it's using Ultra DMA.
If i erase them and let them be redetected on next boot they do show up as ATA devices (SATA drives). But the actual transfer modes are those usually horror settings with PIO modes. I'm not sure how much they mean with SATA drives but seing PIO mode there kinda scares me as we all tried to avoid PIO modes few years back when there were still no SATA drives.
