Just one word of advice about the router, after you get it all hooked up and running, go into its configuration and change the password from its default. The default password is the same with every one of them, so some of the better hackers out there know this and are able to get right through. I personally have my router setup with my own password, plus I run the basic version of Zonealarm on each computer. Zone alarm still pops up about once a week stating that it just stopped an entry into one of my rigs.:rolleyes:

They should work just fine if they're working now. Is it one connector that splits between the two computers? I'm not that familiar with usb style connectors, I don't really know what kinda speeds its capable of. But ethernet 10/100 cards are really quick. The setup you've got now should work, but might limit your speed. Give it a try and see. If it doesn't work fast enuf, nic cards are really cheap ( my Netgear card only costed me like 15 bucks). My smc and netgear cards are really quick. My p///800 runs at 3.3 - 3.8 mbps down. For some reason, I haven't figured out yet why my celery500 won't get those kinda speeds. But I haven't thrown in the towel yet.... ;) So far, I've adjusted the latency settings and still can't get it to go past 150kps down. I hardly ever get the time to spend on that rig though. It's basically just another folding rig for now, and I don't really need the speed for just that.

I'm getting another rig together right now. I had some problems gettting enough parts together. Cd rom was dead, 2 old hard drives were also dead, same with nic card. I bought a new cdrom and nic and broke down my 0 raid between my 2 WD 100s to use one of the Hardrives. Will be folding with it soon at about 17 to 1800 mhz.

I ran for a good 4 hours last night and I've been running for 3 or 4 today and I still havn't comlpeted a Unit. whats up with that, my system is running at 3270 MHz and temps are -7c with this load by the way:D

make sure to put the cpu usage to 100% so you cycles will be dedicated to folding :D

First off, congrats and welcome to the team!~!
Second, even with the system your running, it will take some time to get a unit done. Even moreso considering your doing one of the newer P180's there.
Its a great way to test out that massive cooling you got there too... will keep that CPU of yours maxed out.
You might want to check into the console version. It runs a little better then the version you have there.

With the console version it doesnt use that graphical interface. Its a basic dos window that opens up. Thats it.

OPP, if your connected to the net yes it will send results and download new wu automatically. Adding ram doesn,t increase speed as far as I know.

Nope, ram wont have that much effect once you go beyond a typical systems requirements. i.e. over 256 wont matter.
And if your on Dial up, youll have to figure it in to dial up on its own, or to wait until you connect.
If on a constat, i.e. cable then no, it will connect, send, and D/L on its own.

Adding more ram does nothing for folding. It's all CPU, even high FSB does not get you any bonus. You'll have to get used to the marathon rather than the sprint.:D

No, it wont be THAT bad.... it will be slightly slower on an Intel then in comparison to an AMD. By my understanding, it will take approximately 1/3 longer for an Intel.

If its stopped incorrectly yes. With the console version you need to hit Ctrl + C to close it out.
Otherwise it might damage the file its reading and send back a no good file i.e. no points for that one.

My AMD running @ 2100mhz takes about 10hours to finnish one of these P180's. I would venture to guess that a P4 @ 3100 wil take close to the same amount of time.

Whenever the client is shut down, it will start the frame it was currently on over again, other than that, you shouldn't lose the wu.

One thing we did when I was folding for another team was make flyer signs to post @ work (if able to) or anywhere's else. Is anyone around here decent at whipping up something really cool like that, that would push team 3365? I'd be able to post at work, even though the clientel I deal with really wouldn't have a clue... :rolleyes:

I have 3 rigs, but only my main one (XP1900+) is running F@H.

I'll be setting up F@H on my gateway today, but it's only a p2 350.. Moreover, I need a switch to connect my 3rd rig to the net :(

I have two cpus laying around but somehow I always end up destroying my motherboards which means I won't be using those (AXIA 1Ghz @ 1.5 && D650 @ 930) :D

To make things worse I'm on 56k instead of cable as usual. In other words, the pcs won't get a new wu until I get home.

Yes indeed, There is a large diff between amd and intel. But intel loves the Denovo in water it folds that one faster then amd.
