I have a OCZ GameXstream 700W PSU and the only problem i have is it doesn't have enough 6P PCI-E connectors for my two 9800GTX Video cards. I have adapters on them right now that take two molex and convert to a 6P plug but those take so much room and are very clunky. Instead, I'd rather modify the cables to add two 6P plugs and make it a clean shot without much cable clunkyness that I have now.

What would I need to be able to do this? I need the 6p plugs, with the pins to terminate the wires and maybe some tools to do it all? I'd also need to make sure I use the right wires when making the 6p plugs if it's even possible. Also I don't know how it will affect anything else... right now I believe my 2 hard drives and DVD-Rom drives and water pump are the other devices I have. I need to make sure I have enough dedicated lines to convert to 6p.

Any input or ideas, suggestions on what I need to get to help me make this project happen is appreciated. I don't want to buy another PSU as I like this one alot because of its unique blue LED fan that goes well with my system.

I would just solder dedicated lines straight to inside the psu. It would be a cool mod and you can sleeve it to your liking. Considering you plan to do a mod that will require cutting and soldering of your cables, you will void the warranty either way. You could just make long extension cables for the pci-e connects and just took the other molex ends away, say make the cable about 1.5 feet long

Would it be wise to take the 6 pin PCI-E connectors, and do a Y-Splitter on the ends?

So you can have one 6 pin PCI-E powering 2 sockets?

No, the power requirements may cause the connector to burn where the splitter attaches.
