I must be having some really bad luck.

Ok let me try to start from the beggining

I am trying to raise my clocks to 700/1150 from 675/1100.

I am using the default bios

Anytime i try to overclock my card past these values i fail ati tools .27 beta 4 scan for artifacts. It runs for a few seconds then restarts itself. THen it fails. and i just abort.

What doesn't make sense is that my temps are not high at all. I start failing when i hit 64 celius.

I tried raising my volts using ati tray tools to 1.58. This doesn't work. I fail under a few seconds. Then i uninstall and replace it with ccc. I clock using amd gpu tool. Then scan for artifacts with ati tools and i still fail.

I tried lowering my core to 680/1150 and i still fail. I don't see any artifacts though, even when it says it finds them.

Ati tray tools scan for artifacts don't come up with any artifacts. I can run it forever at 700/1150.

My card is not volt modded.

Any suggestions or theories as to why my toxic can't overclock. I read reviews and threads showing this card going above the limits in ccc.

Oh also if i try to overclock using the auto tune in ccc, I always fail. Meaning my display driver always stops working and recovers during the auto tune process.

In fact if i use ccc for any overclocks my gpu is unstable. I juse uninstal and go with ati tray tools and set the voltage to the highest and everything seems alright.

Please any suggestions i feel like i hit a brick wall. Here is the rest of my systems specs

motherboard: Tpower I45
psu: antec 650w = i am using the pcie express that came with it to power my card up

Oh i forgot my card never goes past 70c under high load. Everything is fine if i just use the stock settings of 675/1100. I even tried flashing my bios with 675/1150 but i still would fail ati tools .27 beta 4 scan for artifacts test.

What should i do?

This thread looks familiar...anyways, just because the card is pre-overclocked to 675 doesn't mean the upper-limit has been raised as well. It is perfectly normal (though not great) to hit the stock voltage wall at ~675 with "normal" 4850's. So, my first guess would be that you didn't get a good pick and you don't have any headroom. If you want, get a digital multi-meter to check your max volts (force 1.158 profile in atitraytools) and try a pencil mod. A little bit of extra juice should get you over 700 easy. However make sure they haven't actually changed the pcb from the factory..
