OC your e7200 just a little bit further and you'll have plenty of CPU power for gaming 'till mainstream Nehalem next year.
On what res. do you game?

1680x1050, my video cards are lacking at that res, hence the upgrade. I'm actually thinking a 9800GX2 now. 280 bux shipped! I will OC it further, will 3.6 be enough?
And, I do bench with the card, but I dont want that to get in the way of my games. The 4870X2 is really more than what I want to pay, but it is just so tempting@ :)

At 16x10 a 4850 would be more than enough really, unless you play Crysis a lot. If you upgrade a lot that's the best choice, IMO. If not, you may wanna get a 4870 or a gtx260.
On my e8500 I can hardly see any gain in games past 3.4~3.6 with a 4850 at 700/1120 @ 1080p.

4850 wouldn't be much of an upgrade for me, I would get the same FPS in CoD4. I might wait for the 4850X2 though if it comes out anytime soon. Otherwise, the 4870X2, because it would last me a long time. :) Open to suggestions.
HD4870X2 is a waste of money if you have a display with 1680x1050 res. Wisest choice for that resolution is HD4850. Maybe you should first get a bigger screen and then think about getting a better videocard.

The 4850 is a very capable card. In CoD4, it's faster than a gtx260 up to 16x10 w/ 4xAA, IIRC. It's more than 2x faster than a 3850. If you turn on AA, you can't even compare the two cards.
A/w, at 16x10 even a 4850x2 would be a serious overkill. If you don't pretend to upgrade in a year or so, buy a 4870 or a gtx260.

Alright alright. No 4870X2. What about the 9800GX2? I still want to do benchmarking, and CoD4 performance with the GX2 is almost double the 4850/GTX 260 at my res. At 20$ more than the GTX 260, it seem like a good deal.

Why not 2 4850 xfire. If you hunt around for deals you can easily get 2 4850 for under 300

I'll look around. How would that be compared to 9800GX2?

I think I'm going to get a GX2, no hassles for me, should last a while, and I'll get 90fps in CoD4 at my res, compared to 56 with the GTX 260. Sounds like its worth an extra 30 bucks.
Sound ok to you guys? Don't want 2 seperate cards, I'm lacking on room as it is.

I know you want a very powerful card but it's a waste of money at the resolution you're playing at. If I were you I would buy a cheaper card and save to get a bigger screen. You can always go Croosfire later. A GX2 can be faster than a gtx280 and still is a major overkill at 16x10.
You said you're gonna be benching, too. How serious are you about that? Are you aiming at top places at hwbot?

I like the gx2 choice; will keep you in newer games for a while especially at your current res and will be capable if you do a monitor upgrade.

I do hardware benching on HWbot. Not aiming for 1st place, but I would enjoy being in the top 200 in the world for some benchmarks. :)
I know it may be overkill, but If I were to say get a 4870, it would be the same price as a 9800GX2. I'll probably upgrade my screen soon. I could get the GX2/4870/4850/GTX 260 + a 24 inch monitor for the price of a 4870X2. :)

Yea, that's what I'd do. Go for the GX2, then. It's a very fast card, really cheap right now and will keep you happy for a long time. Just make sure it scales well in the games you play the most.

Ordered it, thanks guys. Time to go green. :p: I was having problems with my ATi cards. Getting a "Green Screen of death" with green lines going down the screens. I think it was a bad card. :( Oh well, all will be cured now. :) Time for 100fps on CoD4. Thanks again. Btw, how do these do with folding? I'd like to help out a little!
