Keep my 9600GT
BFG Tech 680 watt PSU
Keep my Samsung F1 320GB
Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

My old parts that I won't use will be put up for sale.

So, should I spend the ~$800 and upgrade to dual quad?

I wouldn't upgrade (?) to that. I have no idea what you want to do with it, but I would rather the Intel for gaming. If I were you I would upgrade your cpu and gpu.

Just wait until Nahalem.

if your into folding at home and such crunching then a dual quad system would be sweet. id say get a new video card (4870) and save your money.

Let me put it to you this way; A Q6600 at 3600 has more computational power than what you suggest ok?
The dual quad Intels absolutely frigging destroy the AMD's in computational power and thats a proven fact.

I agree every word with movieman my workstation is dual opteron 2 x 2216 HE, for now Intel route is lot better.

If nehalem comes out quick most of the folks here wont even talk about AMD anymore i guess,sadly.

Yea, I wish it wasn't so. I'd love to see AMD come out with a good one as competition between the companies fuels the R&D and also keeps prices reasonable for all of us.

Yes, the AMD's are cheap $$ but it's like buying a Yugo and entering the Indy 500.. It just doesn't work!:rofl:
