I have bought my last POS mouse-&%$#ing-keyboard combo. If I have to hang the friggin' receiver around my friggin' red neck to get a signal then I'm going to start crunchin' more that work units.

Normally I would have ended this long ago by getting a nice Logitech combo. But for reasons best understood by the wanking lube jockeys at Logitech, they decided to remove the scroll lock key from their keyboards. WTF? I realized this a year ago when I got my bluetooth deskset and tried to operate my KVM switch - which uses - guess which key - that's right - the &*^%ing SCROLL LOCK KEY mother &*^%ers!!!

Hang on, they're coming with my thorazine injection.

Ohhh, yeah, that's much, much . . . .

Huh? Oh, right. Keyboards.

So, who makes the best - and I mean longest, most interference free - wireless mouse/keyboard where the keyboard has a scroll lock key and the mouse is high-res laser?

If you're recommending a no-name, brand, odds are I've already tried it, but I'll hear you out.

Thanks.

why not go wired.

i love my wired keyboard/mouse. Simple, no drivers. Just plug and go.

I can live with a wired keyboard, but the mouse wire drives me insane. My OCD starts coming back and I have to make sure there is the right amount of slack - but not too much, that it's not in the way of something else, etc. *shudders* Bad memories. But thanks for the suggestion.

So are wireless...

Can't you reprogram it to use another key?

I don't think so - because the KVM reads the ASCII codes coming directly from the keyboard. If the keyboard can be programmed, that would work. I used to have one that had extra programmable function keys. But since Logitech doesn't have any scroll lock key, I would have to be able to program in the correct ASCII code.

Sometimes you have to live with wires ... these are hard times we live in ;)

Seriously ... I've several Mice here, wired ones are best for gaming when it comes to high DPI and so are good old Optical ones. For general computing I have a Logitech wireless MX1000 laser and a Logitech MX Revolution laser that comes with a USB dongle for a receiver, ergonomically there is nothing on this planet better than a MX Revolution IMHO, but the dongle needs to be quite close to the mouse for best performance ... I use it on my keyboard USB port.

My wired Logitech MX518 is much better when i decide to play Crysis or COD4 but I'd prefer something newer like a Razor death adder or Logitech G5 ... when i do decide to play online with above games i would not use my wireless mice, wired high dpi Mice do give an advantage, even to an old fart like me :)

If you want sheer uber high res performance from a mouse, then you need to look at a wired mouse, if you are like me and only do occasional gaming, then the best of the current crop of wireless Mice are mostly just fine.
