View Full Version : DDR3 Fault Rate?

I recently received two sets of DDR3. One was an RMA for RAM I've used for a while, same make, and it works but it requires more voltage than it should - and one stick tests normal and the other requires more voltage.

The other was a new set of RAM.

Both sets had one stick that would not boot.

And these were just two of them recently?
My question is, does DDR3 have an extremely high fault rate? I've never had bad RAM before in my life (other than $20 walmart PNY which doesn't count)?

Or have I just had really bad luck?

heh. I find that most sets I buy have one real good, one avg. I don't think they bin sticks individually...so you buy two sets, assured that the worst stick from each set passed the binning.

i think that ddr3 has the same thing as ddr2 were promos and qibmonda have higher DOA rates and they are used alot more (hence $100-200ddr3)

next time get something rated for 1.9V and not from ocz, preferably with micron jnl

I just installed 2x2gig DDR3 of Mushkin and it works fine, no problems:up:
