I just finished a build, Asus Evo, q9550, 4870x2 in a Ultra m998 case, CPU fan is an Asus Arctic square. Anyway, seems like the temps are too high? Any input as to voltages, etc, i could input to cool it down a bit, not oc'd at all.
Temp readings: CPU at idle: 38-44c
4870x2 at idle: 56c
System temp:43-48c(all from Sandra, and Bios)
FSB 1333.23
1999.75mhz
All cooling is stock air,
Need help please!
Thanks!

No that bad, but what are load temps?

Load temps for CPU are low 50's. for VGA low 60's. Just turned it on and CPU idling at 41, System temp is 33 and VGA is 50. That has to be high right?
Thanks for the response or any suggestions:confused:

Low 50's on a Quad isn't bad at all. :)

Really? I can't find any docs that say what normal idle temp should be, guess it depends on the cse, etc... What about the VGA? no worries there either? No way a stock mobo would overvolt a cpu?

Look for the thermal spec of your cpu.
http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLAWQ
Intel seems to list their thermal spec to 71 degrees. You're 20 under, so you're clear. :)
Dont know about the GPU, but they do get hot nowadays. I couldn't see 60c as damaging to your computer.
Edit: Alot of people have around that temperature for their GPU's, if you're not happy with it, try upping the fan speed with Rivatuner or something along those lines.
Usually alot of CPU's have stuck sensors when idle, so dont worry about your idle temp.

Thanks for the Info! I'll check into it right now and adjust the fan speed as well:up: Really appreciate the insight , thanks!:D

With air cooling your temps are quite good actually.

Yeah, looks like the rated specs are around 70's under load for CPU! Thanks for the help and advice again, just didn't want to see my new rig go up in smoke:eek:I expect once the thermal paste sets i'll probably see a slight decrease in cpu temps as well! Now I'm starting to get the itch to try and overclock for the first time! See if I can dim the lights in the Apt. Complex:rofl: Ant good links for overclock noobs?
