Ok I hate doing this...
My friend needs a gaming rig replacement, he has $350, no need to lol, I did enough of that.
He needs a cpu, motherboard, mem, gpu, and a psu, I was thinking about the pentium wolfdale at 2.5, and looking towards a 8600gt for gpu, can someone help me, I always get nervous with low budget builds.

Well im in the same boat for my wife, she doesn't want anything crazy, just something to play wow at.
I picked this out so far:
ASUS M2N-MX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131249) $47
2GB DDR2-800 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161030) $32
Athlon X2 2.3Ghz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103215) $40
Cooler Master HSF (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103050) $10
ASUS 8600GTS 256MB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121069) $50
Hitachi 160GB 7200rpm SATA (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145162) $42
LG DVD-RW Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136144) $22
That total comes to $243 after rebates, so you add a power supply and case you will have a alright computer to start with that can be upgraded later.

I second the 9600 GSO recommendation. A fantastic bargain! You also get a free version of Rainbox Six Vegas 2 ... Ebay that for about $15 and you have yourself a ~$30 after MIR card that plays any game, maxed settings with some AA/AF, at 1280x1024. :eek:
9600 GSO = 8800GS, btw.

with 350 i would recommend:
9600gso=$100 w/ 50MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130356
Corsair xms2 2gb=$58 w/ $40MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145175
ECS p35T=$65 w/ $10 MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135059 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135059)
Intel 5200 Wolfdale=$85
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072
OCZ StealthxStream=$80 w/ $30MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010
Total=387.46 without shipping
After Rebate=$257.46
With the extra money, i suggest upgrading to an 8800gt or a better mobo.
Goodluck :]

How about an E2180 instead of an AMD cpu? Or is that a bad idea. :p:

get E2160 or E2180 and good cooling + extreme overclocking :up:

The 9600GSO is the lowest he should go. Its the cheapest card that is able to run games decently. Its ALOT faster than the 8600gts or 9500gt.

E2180 3ghz @ 55+ at load with stock cooler is good enough. But the cheap board might not overclock well so 5200 @ 2.5ghz stock clock is a better choice.
also there is
EVGA 8800GTS 512MB $99

Are you sure you need a PSU? The rig in my sig draws a max load of about 250Watts. Measured at the wall.

E5200 for $85 instead of an AMD processor. Faster, overclockable.

I second the 2180 recommendation. They break 3.0 without breaking a sweat.
