i have a asus rampage formula and i want to remove the stock heat pipe so i can add a swiftech mcw30 chip set block , my question is what is the best way to remove the stock heatpipe assembly? details please , i've been using the board for 4 months !

i think people said in the rampage formula thread, people mentioned placing it in the freezer, or cooling it down with some sort of canned air.

check out the thread, and im sure they'll have more info there.

just unscrew it and, HOPE the stuck isn't stuck on there. If it is, you might need to heat up. Or more preferably cool it down.

Keep in mind, once you replace it your going to need replace ALL of the cooling that the linked-heatsink did, which includes a lot of random stuff near the northbridge.


Most definitely check out the thread in the Intel section, posted by 3OH6, theres diagrams on their I think.

I dont have that board, I have the Ramopage Extreme and it came right off. I have had others that I used a hair dryer for and about 20ish seconds did the trick. Good Luck
