Okay, so, basically for the last two years, i've had a Logitech Ultra-X Media Desktop. Wireless keyboard & mouse, and the keyboard is a fullsize one with low-profile keys and a number pad. This is it here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-UltraX-Media-Desktop-Keyboard/dp/B000ETTH6U/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1222235159&sr=8-17

Now, i've actually had two of these, and i still have both - the first one has a broken 'fn' key (scissor mech snapped) and looks worn out - and the second one is what i'm typing on, works fine, but also is worn out, the lettering is starting to rub off and the keys are no longer satin finish, but almost liked polished plastic. The mouse similarly has lost its plastic 'feet' and is starting to wear out and stick, no matter how many times i pull it apart and clean it.

I'm now in the process of trying to find a replacement for it, but not having much luck. I don't need an all singing, all dancing setup, ideally, i'd like another one of these, again, but finding one is nigh on impossible, if theres anyone that has stock left of this OEM/System Builder Only desktop kit.

The Logitech diNovo is too expensive and stupidly laid out in the fact that the numberpad is totally separate, the diNovo Edge looks pretty but has no numberpad at all (i NEED a numberpad).

Labtec has a setup thats similar, but after having trying it out, i've ruled it out as being too cheap and crappily made.

So, any suggestions? I *NEED* low profile keys!

And if someone knows of where i can get another one of the same thing, i'm going to buy several and stockpile them!

I'm liking my Razer Lycosa. Very low profile, and the keys have a satin feel to them. Ruberized. Keyboard is pretty thin too. It is wired.

The keys are backlit though. If you are working in a very bright environment, it will be hard to see the symbols.

I had looked at the Razer Lycosa....very good looking keyboard - but are the keys low-profile?

Dragy2k - oooh, looks good, but i'm a little worried that it says 'german' in there.

How low profile do you need? The Lycosa keys are about 1.5x thicker than the ones on my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Logitech Dinovo Edge. I have it with the MX mouse and it is a great comput but a little expensive. I would say worth it for sure though.

Mmmm... Maybe Thermaltake Soprano fits your need :D

I rather confused with the definition "low profile keys", but after looking at pict of Soprano, I think you should try it :D

Or might be Lycosa? Very good looking keyboard, in my opinion, altough it called for gaming keyboard.

How about...
Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4740&cl=us,en)

The lights can be switched off...

OR

diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4742&cl=us,en)

It would seem the size of this notebook kb is quite comparable to desktop keyboards.

As for the mouse...
I love my MX1000 but the buttons are starting to fail, so I've been eyeing MX1100 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/4676&cl=us,en). I don't particularly like MX Revolution.

I am in search of a the best keyboard, I have bought 6 Keyboards in the last 14 months. I am typing this on the Razor Lycosa, wich is too thin. I fail to see the point of low profile keys.

This would be a perfect keyboard, if is wasn't for the key hight. Wish they offered a full hight version.

The G15 Logitech is a great keyboard but it's bandwidth or key-binds are only 4. When playing games and I push the 5th button, it does NOTHING. Less I would've stopped looking for a keyboard a long time ago.

Loving this thread, I've been looking for some wireless gadgets myself. Does anyone know when the DiNovo for Notebooks is being released in the UK? And the price? I've googled but I can't find it.

personally i was using DiNovo edge +mx revolution a while back. After i switched my mouse for the Razer Lachesis, i find the MX revolution sluggish

i really love the low profile and slick design of the diNovo.
and the Lachesis does about anything a gamer would want :D

I love my thin profile keys. Its almost like typing on a laptop.

But I can understand why its sometimes hard to type. The keys have very little resistance, and its easy to mistype just by grazing the top of a key.

And I can attest that the diNovo edge can take a direct hit by about 500ml. of diet coke and survive unscathed. (The testing was somewhat unplanned:p:)

I just bought the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard at BestBuy yesterday. I love it.. it's SUPER thin and in total darkness the characters on the keys are crystal clear. I'm at work right now.. I'll snap some pictures when I get home.

by the way do not confuse the DiNovo (posted above) with the DiNovo Edge (see picture below)
