Anyone got this yet?

If so, I have a question. Does the "enhanced" edition have support for dual or quad core processors?

Also, what about x64 support?

A guy on Amazon claimed the enhanced edition has support for multicore processors and x64, but I did a search and came up with nothing.

Enhanced version is the same as regular Witcher + latest patch. Enhanced version box contains latest patch, Djinni (editor), one new official adventure, "making of" movies and other extras.

I played through and beat the original Witcher. If you haven't played it, it is an excellent game. The enhanced edition only makes it that much better.

It might support dual core but I doubt quad cord.

Yeah, I heard it's a great game! I bought the uncensored enhanced edition from gogamer, along with a GTX 260 216 core card from Newegg, so hopefully it will be enough to max out the settings at 1920x1200..

Reason I asked though, is because I'm familiar with the Aurora engine (the same engine used for the NWN series), and I know it only runs off one thread, which is sort of ridiculous in this day and age.

From my own testing dual core speedup is marginal and could as well be a result of overall preformance improvement (less important software running on core 1 while Witcher runs on core 0).

Thanks

Kinda sucks, but oh well.

NWN2 uses the same engine, though it's not as refined as in the Witcher, and NWN2 is very CPU intensive.

I'm sure the Witcher will also be CPU intensive, which just underscores why it's important for developers to optimize their games for dual and multicore processors.

When they don't, the game's potential isn't fully realized, and people are going to start complaining that their new 3,000 dollar system can't run the game at full bore without experiencing a lot of lag and slow downs.

Thats what happened when NWN2 first came out.

It was a excellent game I'm on my 2nd time playing it. Not sure about the multi core but if it isn't it's no big deal the game wasn't cpu or gpu hindered. Carfax: your GTX will be more than enough for those resolutions.

just a tip use a game walk through just as a reference as there are so many missions and possibilities in the game

The Enhanced Patch posted at Filefront may not be the correct version for the North American CENSORED version of the game, it gave me a catastrophic failure warning on the install.

From reading other forums it may be that the copy at Gamershell may work, so I am downloading that one now.

I'll edit this post again to let you know on whether it works or not.

The Enhanced patch at Gamershell worked for me with the CENSORED North American version.

Nah no way is The Witcher multi-core utilizing, unfortunately. It's not a demanding game graphically, a 9600GT will max it out with great fps :)

More important in this game is the art direction and style, than raw polygon counts and shader usage. Don't get me wrong, it does look fantastic from a technicaly perspective :) It's in its own league, though, as far as design and stuff go in my opinion.

Make sure you have >2 gb of ram for it though. Resource management in Witcher is crappe even with patches. 1.5gb + after 2-3 hrs of gameplay used up solely by witcher.

One of my most memorable parts about The Witcher was taking on multiple enemies at once using group attacks with the Blizzard potion (slows down time) and increased attack potion. Complete mayhem.

Yeah, to be honest when i first started playing the game i was put off by the combat and seemingly needless, almost comical blood flying everywhere, it seemed second-rate or something, but like most aspects of the game they grew on me and i couldn't get enough of it.

Eventually you realize it fits in quite well with the more mature theme of the rest of the game, and that it's just really gory :)
