View Full Version : Oops, proper bricked one of my 4850s

I was just flashing my cards back to the stock sapphire bios because my current modified bios wont allow me to install the 8.9 cats.

This was the first time ive gone back to the stock bios and i usually always have the orig bios on my pen drive name orig.bios. Not this time, the orig was called sapphire.rom. What I have infact flash to my card is an old rogue Asus P5K premuim motherboard bios names orig.rom :shocked: doh! Not sure why that was still on there. Silly me.

Anyway as i have crossfire I thought I should be able to boot with other card and force flash unfortunatly atiflash doesnt see the card on id 1 :(

If i try atiflash -p -f 1 sapphire.rom I just get Adapter Error 0FL01 - Adapter not found.

Doesnt look good.


Do you think it time to scrap this and get a 4870x2 :) or this there any hope ?

Did you try force flashing in the first place? How would atiflash let you flash a motherboard bios to the card with no error?

Maybe rma it :p and get the 4870x2,then sell the 4850' to cover the cost of the new 4870x2.

*just noticed ive gaied a red led on the back* I guess its terminal.

So, sorry, are you saying you flashed a mobo BIOS to a VGA?

If so, EPIC LULZ.
