Hi, I purchased an xfx 780i motherboard, was pretty happy with it for about 3 months when i started having a problem with it. upon pushing the power button the computer turns on as usual but the fans dont spin down the lcd on the motherboard shows FF and the monitor i have my computer connected to sits in standby mode.
The motherboard i had I RMA'ed and they sent me a replacement, also had my power supply checked out that was fine also.
Also system doesnt post.

Any suggesstions as to what the problem may be?

That really blows. Was really hoping that it would not come to this again. Haven't had a working computer for 3 months almost.

if the brand new board also POSTs instant FF then it may not be the board. Did you change any hardware near any of those incidences? Have you been severely ocing anything? What vga and what's you're PSU's wattage and rated eff.?
i mean, pretty standard questions but, i gotta ask.

What was your ticket number?

Test outside of your case on the box the board came in. Make sure that the 24 and 8 pin connections are connected snugly. If they are, remove them and reseat the cables. If possible, try another power supply. Check the CPU socket for any bent pins. Try an older 775 CPU if you have one. If that board had an older BIOS, it may not support the 8200. Do you get a red light above the CPU when you try to power the system on?

What was the original problem with the first board? If it was the same than I can almost guarantee that the board is not the problem or not your only problem.

Umm the only hardware change i had was the CPU cooler which is a thermalright IFX-14 with back cooler. Nothing else was changed other then that. OCing umm at the time i think i had my E8200 sitting at around 3.6GHz which is well within its range. Graphics card my 9800 GTX was I think at stock at the time. PSU is a silverstone ST50EF-PLUS which is a 500W psu with an 80+ certification.

Tried outside of the case, it doesn't appear to have made any difference at all. Connectors have been checked several times and have been plugged in snugly and reseated a good few times. Tried using another PSU to no avail. Don't have a spare CPU lying round unfortunately, and that would have been one of the first things i had attempted this time round. CPU appears to be fine. BIOS was up to date last i new and the computer was running for about a month or two prior to the initial failure. No red light above CPU.

PSU was tested by the supplier and had no problems.

Ticket number was 169421

The problem is very similar to last time but this time there is no strobing of any of the lights.

Also looking at the back of the mother board there looks to be random trails kinda like a salt trail i noticed this with my last motherboard but kind of just passed over it as it was only minor.
I've attached some pictures so you can see what i mean
