Grid VERY low fps with hd4870

with everything high, i literally get 10fps.

sometimes the fps sorts itself and i get smooth gameplay, but only for a thew seconds

even with everything graphics wise ultra low apart from the resolution (1680x1050) its a smooth fps, but stutters

i have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers (including driver sweeper in safe mode) and reinstalling the game (deleting the folder also) but nothing is sorting it

also tried with bios settings at stock with no luck.

ati drivers are tweaked to run fans faster for better temps

I have bf2, cod4, supreme commander, company of heroes, civilization IV and guild wars which all run absolutely fine

anyone got any ideas?

CBird28 Have you installed SP1 for Vista?!
I hadn't and I had the exact same problem, so I did a fresh install of the game 5 times, then I reinstalled vista, by this time I was pretty annoyed, then I installed SP1 and it ALL went away!! try that! ;)

I think sp1 is installed yeah got all the updates off the windows update site

iv formatted and still getting this problem, pain in the ass i cant find nothing on google either

cheers gaz sp1 sorted it. i didnt know sp1 was a stand alone update that's not on the windows update screen in vista. cheers.
