Our sources have confirmed that you will be able to clock the cheapest, $284 priced Nehalem from 2.66GHz all the way to 4GHz.
Hmm, I wonder who his 'sources' are. ;) It also doesn't mean much if it was just an ES with unlocked multis (unless they overclocked with the default multi), but if it was multi locked and doing 4GHz, that would be impressive... :yepp:

Dont OC, then OC, then dont OC, then OC...
Anyway..why post fud links?
Unfortuntaely it seems he was just googling...and wanted a pie of the ad cake.

The Google links point to ES of 2.93GHz and 3.2GHz models overclocking to 4GHz. He is claiming the 2.66GHz model also hits 4GHz...
Anyway time will tell I guess, as I always say about Fuddo and TheINQ, if they publish enough rumours they are bound to get a few right by pure chance.

For the next 2 months I imagine this sub-forum is going to be flooded with crap like this. I cannot wait for this launch just to put all this to rest.

IT was ES with open multiplier....

I hate to be and AMD fanboy here but it looks like another phenom lol it .....can't clock..... it can clock....... went threw the same stuff with AMD's phenom where the ES model showed 3.0ghz. and retail didn't show a good clock.
I dont see why this would be such news assuming the E0 rev process is so easy to get to 4ghz I would not doubt this new tech getting to the same place also.
amd is differant as when they lower clocks becasue the cpu has to do more 'newer tech' they cant overclock as well 'hence onboard ddr controller', but intel regardless of the stuff the cpu has to do 'even with the implimented new ddr controller on board' at the end of the day intel has never seemed to drop overall top end mhz so I doubt this will change even with 4 cores acting as 8 and onboard functions like ddr controller. :)
and becasue of stuff like speed stepping and so on I doubt intel will ever have a cpu platform that cant be tweaked / overclocked
they have been saying this since forever

I dont see this ever being true maybe on intel boards but not oems

OK, I'm weary of this, and at the moment I'm planning on definitely buying the 2.93. It doesn't have to OC to 4GHz for me to buy it though. If it gets to 3.5 that would be just fine with me.
I'm very weary of anything posted at that Fud site. Much of it is contradictory, and there have been numerous "rumors" started that were so far out there they didn't even resemble what actually "was".
We've heard stuff that these CPU's won't OC. That was pure hogwash and I knew it was when I heard it. It's the reason I'm weary of trusting anything written there.
The point is, it really doesn't matter what this thing OC's to. It's gonna be an awesome piece of technology. We know it will OC. Asus has built a special board specifficly for OC'ing it to record numbers. That speaks volumes to me.

Its post like this that make me love this place. Where else do you find heated debate like this?
On the other hand I stopped reading Fud long ago, he might be a liar but at least he inspires conversation and debunking of his so called 'news'. Im sure he gets a decent amount of hits from links here even after people know its unreliable.

Do all the 2.93 Ghs ES have unlocked multi ?

lol, with s700/750 mobo is 3GHt with default voltage:p:, 3.3GHz for Phenom normal.
Are u noob? We seen ES Deneb 4GHz Air with higher voltage, but air. Some as Nehalem :)

maybe yes, but in buy only i965 with unlocked multiplier:(...

Well if this is true, that means on a locked multi chip with turbo mode maxed out to a multi of 22, they are doing just over 180MHz on the reference clock. Hopefully this is good news for the ref's scalability.

He wrote stories about 2.66GHz OC to 4GHz and 3.2GHz OC to 4.5Ghz. So now we need one more story about 2.93GHz OC to 4.25GHz. Come on, you can do it, FUDo!

This only seems possible, unless the steppings have insanely improved, on an ES chip. As we see from whats out there, a 2.93ghz needs 1.576v to the core to get it hitting 4.0ghz. so a 2.66.... seems less likely. As well, looking at the new fudd, of a 3.2ghz hitting over 4ghz easily, lends creedence to the multi playing a factor, vs the ref clock. I guess we ll see, but that initial voltage is scary on 45nm.
