I seem to have broken something on my DFI expert Motherboard. So since I can not find a replacement, I'm thinking about grabbing an DFI ultra D instead. I heard that they are optimized for different types of memory.

I have 4x1 GB stick of DDR500 PC4000 and I need to confirm they will still work on the Ultra-D NF4 chipset before I purchase it as replacement Motherboard.

Thanks and regards,
Justin.

ur title & post seem to be of diff subject

yes the Ultra-D will/should work with the 4x1GB ram - its almost the same chipset (u are aware u can mod the chipset, so that it becomes *exactly* the same as the Expert right?)

as for title question - that would depend on which kit - G.Skill made at least 2 DDR500 2x1GB kits - one of them definitely was UCCC.. if u have the UCCC stuff, u'll know by which timings they are rated @ : 3-4-4-8 is the UCCC stuff.. if however the timings are 3-3-2-8 (iirc), then the ICs are micron of some type (forgotten the'code' number etc, but is definitely Micron - hell good stuff too  )

Both Timings are 3-4-4-8 on both sets although one says 2.6-2.7v and the other set says 2.6-2.8v...I'm still assuming they are proabbly matched sets or as close to it as possible. I'd appreciate any info on modding this board (just flash the bios or what?) I'll try to google something tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure the memory I have will work since I can't find another DFI expert. Seems like everyone that has one is holding onto it like some kind of relic lol.

Thanks for your help!

the mod is *really* easy & simple... I cannot remember anyone stuffing it up either... having said that, i'm not sure if there is any advantage to the mod, apart from giving u the ability to run SLi. The Ultra-D has many many BIOSs & mods that one can apply, which in end affect makes it no less a mobo than its bigger brother, the SLi-DR (which is the mobo the Ultra-D becomes essentially, after the chipset mod is done)

the ones with 3-3-2-8 have infineon ce6 on them just like the mushkin redlines or ocz platinum eb.
hell good stuff i gotta confirm ;)
if ur g.skill pc4000 have black heatspreaders and the model number says 2GBHZ u´ve got uccc chips.
if u got blue heatspreaders and the 2GBHV model then u´ve got the ce6.
