Due to the 2008 Q2,the brand new next generation processor “Nehalem” (Even the official names call “i7” , but people used to call “X58”)has going to show up, and the spec was no longer like mystery ! code name ”Bloomfield” basically are Quad core processor, 45nm and using new socket level up to LGA 1366, but most important change is Intel Quick Path Interconnect (short name: QPI) to X58 chipset, it’s Triple channel DDR3 and directly control by CPU, not Northbridge anymore, also this is first time we can saw this technology in the Intel platform. So the memory socket has 6 dimms, bandwidth performance has over 1 times than dual channel memory, and PCI-Express slot up to 2.0 version and support multiple graphics configurations from dual to quad graphic cards

When you saw this presentation from Intel, you will know the basically spec of X58. this time XFastest.com is brought to you by ASUS P6T-Deluxe motherboard, after the first look report, we are bring to you the P6T’s performance review as soon.

Northbridge heat-sink is different like usually design, especially you are using the down force radiator, can brings more heat from the heat-sink.

The ICH10R southbridge heat-sink.
http://pic.xfastest.com/hyde211/share/P6T_Deluxe/09.jpg
Also keep the great heat-sink design for mosfet near the CPU side.

Triple channel DDR3 has total 6 dimm slots, is very shock visual effect.
http://pic.xfastest.com/hyde211/share/P6T_Deluxe/11.jpg
Also provide 3 PWM for the triple channel memory.
http://pic.xfastest.com/hyde211/share/P6T_Deluxe/12.jpg
CMOS battery postion has move to the memory slot side in P6T-Deluxe, and the special blue jumper is means for increase CPU voltage.

Back panel for I/O output.

Normal SATA II port are red color, special port is orange color, this port also can support SAS interface unit.
http://pic.xfastest.com/hyde211/share/P6T_Deluxe/15.jpg
Same as P5Q series onboard switch, it’s real convenience for over clocker.
http://pic.xfastest.com/hyde211/share/P6T_Deluxe/16.jpg
PCI-Express are using different design for more fasten graphic card.

We will update to you every detail of performance testing ASAP, please keep lock on www.xfastest.com , the world fastest 3C review site.

Pretty looking board, looking forward to i7 + X58!

no fan on the nb?
pink sb heatsink? ^^
i liked the looks of the rampage extreme a LOT more, but then again this isnt ROG, its normal asus right?
im curious if its really 16 phase this time or still the 8x2 stuff

Is that a standardized backplate? That is awesome, along with the proper mounting of heatsinks throughout the mobo.

i like the battery on this one, and why would u want a fan on the NB that is only a pci-e controller

Can someone please explain why ASUS keeps putting pci slots between pci-e slots making them useless? Why cant they just put them at the bottom?

why cant/wont asus use phoenix/award bios instead of ami junk ?.. the only thing standing in the way of making asus mobos better

Also the word lunch is spelled wrong, it should be launch. Nice looking board, but wtf were they thinking when the colour of sb sink was decided.
nice waiting for the review but it is in Chinese hope they have an English version

a resize of fonts and pictures would do miracles.... seen this board lots of times no news
Holy crap onboard SAS?!
1 year ago you could already buy a MSI board on 790fx platform with sas controller..... :D
and this board will be fore sure double the price of the msi one

Have you seen the figures i previously posted about these chipsets still being quite hot?

Hehe, the CPU socket actually has a backplate - I mean one that has nothing to do with heatsink retention.
And I like the vertical battery mount.

Any estimates on the price of this monster motherboard? If any board can take Nehalem to 5Ghz+ it's this one.

Floppy refuses to die. :p:
Vertical battery is good, no more swiss army knife fooling around.
What exactly is SAS? I looked it up on wikipedia and it's some kind of predecessor to SATA (in a way). Only real obvious benefit that I could find was that you can now place your hard drives 8 meters from your pc, instead of the previously strictly limited 1 meter. Score. :p:
And note how they spelled their own website wrong in the pictures.

Looking from the ASUS slides. They dont seem to show indication of problems with raising the 133 reference clock.

They did raise it however only to 140 iirc. How far wil it go is the big question :D Dont have pic exsuse...

SAS = Serial Attached SCSI
It's the predecessor to Ultra 320 SCSI using connector standards of SATA. Allows for point to point expander units, bandwidth aggregation, and all other kinds of cool stuff ;>
It's basically an advanced SCSI design but using the simplicity of SATA connectors kind of.

this is making me start to think about just waiting for an 'extreme' series mobo...

What is "xfastset.com"? ;) Think you've got a little mistake there :)
The board looks good, though the placement of two of the x16-ports isn't perfect. Would've been better to put the black one one place higher.
Six ram-slots look perverted :D

I dig the color scheme. The OC thing looks gimmicky and will probably cost a ton. Why paint those 2 USB ports on the back red? I wonder if they got a license to use wolverine and spidey in those slides?

very nicely loaded board, but it will probably cost 500$ or so...
the board + a little fortune for the 3 fast&premium DDR3 modules will pretty much compensate for the 266$ low priced chip

I doubt it will be that much. They will probably have P6T Premium and X58 ROG later on in that sort of price range

memory pron I WANT
T_Flight
09-19-2008, 06:58 AM
OK, I gotta question that's slightly related to this bioard but to the memory. Wouldn't it be better to only fill 3 slots with 2GB each than to fill all 6. I'm talking from an OC'ing and performance perspective here.
If this gets too far off the boards discussion I can always start a new thread. I really need to start looking into memory now. I want the best latency, highest OC'ing, best performing system I can possibly get from a RAM perspective.
I'm looking to go around 6GB.

In general, fewer GB sticks, i.e. 1 GB sticks vs 2 GB are more overclockable. I think.

I like the misspelled words underline, cool!
Also, why no mention of SLI?
T_Flight
09-19-2008, 09:31 AM
It's not clear whether this board will support SLi or not. They have to send them to nVidia to be tested before nVidia will cert them.
I would like to have it, but it won't be a deal breaker or anything if it doesn't for me personally. I am hoping it does though.

Does anyone know if you populate 2 of the x16 slots with CF, what speed does the 3rd x16 run at? Does this reduce all 3 to x8? I'd imagine that's the only option, but would like confirmation if anyone knows.
doompc
09-21-2008, 01:28 PM
@Anemone
Looks like the 1st and the 2nd slots are both 16x.
But if you plug a card in the 3rd slot only the 1st one will remain 16x, 2nd and 3rd will work at 8x.
Which is still a good setup for 3 way Crossfire.
Anemone
09-21-2008, 04:56 PM
At least the primary stays 8x though, but that's probably not going to matter since 3x CF balances based on the lowest performing card. I was more thinking what might happen if I had 2 cards and then used the final slot for something else, what would happen to performance. Seems like the smartest thing is to stay with just dual cards and be absolutely sure to leave the 3rd slot empty so you are getting dual x16 on both slots.
What would have been helpful is to have the 2 @ x16 and the third x16 function as x1 or x4 for a Raid card, but that's more pci-e lanes than the X58 can handle after the X4 that is in slot #1. So x16 x8 x8 is the best that you can get out the chipset probably.
Thank you Doom :)

Here's what I do not get, board makes seem to get that Nehalem needs overbuilt PWR... While in turn they keep coming out with AMD OC-boards that can barely handle the stock wattage of phenoms.
