I would like to replace my memory in my ASUS X38 Maxmium Forumula SE (using air cooling only) with 2GB modules. I am using Vista 64bit and would likely upgrade to full 8GB using all 4 DIMM Slots either right away, or 4GB now and then 4GB shortly thereafter.
I have been burned twice already with memory purchases that have not been compatible/stable on this board at rated speed.
I have found your report that the PC2-8500 modules F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK are compatible in this board in 4 DIMM at 1066Mhz and 2.0V and would consider that memory.
I do not overclock much and intend to run memory at or near PC2-8500, however I am a strong believer that RAM should have some headroom which is why I am interested in
F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI rated at PC2-8800
I also strongly prefer the lower voltage 1.8-1.9V of the PC2-8800 memory.
Is this PC2-8800 RAM Model# F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI fully compatible and stable with my Q6600 and ASUS X38 Maximus Formula BIOS 1207 at rated 1100Mhz, 5-5-5-15, 1.9V with both 2 and 4DIMM?
Like I've said, I've had bad luck in the past and I'm shy to make the purchase this time without a stated compatibility test.
