Hi i am just done with modding a HD4870X2 gfx for my mate Mathis77 and i tought i would do a little guide so here it comes.
First of the 2 Vgpu mods.
Here is the solderpad on the back of the card for the gpu at the rear of the card.
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/riskatoft/Picture080Large-1.jpg

And here is my own discovery the solderpad for the other gpu in front of the card on the back i dont think that others have found it and that is because it is hidden under the laquer on the print abd you have to scratch the laquer of whit a razorblade to get to the solderpad.
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/riskatoft/Picture086Large-1.jpg

Now we just have to solder some wires to the 2 solderpoints so here we are first the gpumod for the gpu at the back of the card.

http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/riskatoft/Picture098Large.jpg

And then the gpumod for the gpu at the front of the card.

http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/riskatoft/Picture093Large.jpg
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/riskatoft/Picture095Large.jpg

And now to solder two 50 Ohms multiturns vrs on the card.

When this is done we will flash the card with the asus top bios so we can clock the card a little further than normal.

First you have the get som files on the Inet.

Very nice find on the hidden pad

he is VERY SNEAKY :D

I though I was pretty good at soldering.
Then I meet Riska at a OCTeamDenmark bench weekend :D :shocked:

The guy even forced his Shuttel to run 4.2 Quard core 24/7 :D

great work Riska and cool to share with XS :D

Last night i removed one of my pin #9 mods, and attempted the scratch and solder pad method.

FAIL

After carefully scratching/chipping away the surface using a scalpel, i tried to apply a ball of solder but it would not grab at all.
So i gave it some more scratching and tried again - nothing.
Cleaned over the area using a cotton tip and acetone, which seemed to do the trick a bit because after i was able to get a small solder ball to stick - but it promptly fell off when soldering on the wire.
From then on no matter what i tried i could not get solder to stick onto the "pad" again - which was becoming more and more a scratched up mess as i tried over and over.

In the end i gave up and soldered back onto pin #9 and the card is back up and running.
My advice - dont asume the scratch and solder method is easy.

hi
my compliments
this mod is really easy!!!
i can not downoal the smartdoctor because is very slowly is possible thdifferent link???? I don't succeed in finding online it!!
I have to find the way of climbing in c.f. by software since if flash the bios to 960 becomes unstable while if I climb with gpuclock is stable to 960, strange truth?
with single card ok but with vista and the c.f. how do I do to lift the clock to everybody 4 the cores??
you excuse the bad English

update / edit:

mod(s) work, read points done too

but any time i go > ~1.3V** on either core, screen goes off and wont come back on till < or = ~1.3V** (reboot doesn't help)

am i missing something?

** 1.315v on "front" core, 1.288v on "rear"

Well see...at least it wasn't actually 50k and he used 50, then he'd have bigger problems than having trouble setting voltage. :p:

Can I just flash the ASUS Bios on my Sapphire 4870X2 and it'll work? What does it do? Increase the vgpu via softmod?
