Hey guys

I've been posting my 8800GTX but i have an issue that's driving me crazy

2 days ago I tested

684/1836/1116 with 1,42volts idle

702/1782/1116 with 1,48 volts idle

both test passed 3 LOOPS of 3dM06 and 3dMVantage...

Then last night they won't pass, so i tweaked, started from scratch and get the same working again....Today again they won't pass
This is driving me crazy

What can it be

Temps are fine, i got 47C IDLE at 702/1782/1116 with 1,48 , and LOAD 54C
When I was on aire at stock IDLE was 52C, so temp can't be

My STOCK VOLTS measures of this G80 A2 where:

vgpu: 1,28
vmem: 2,22

now i got

vgpu: 1,42 - 1,48
vmem: 2,35 (pencil) Hynix RAM

What do you guys think ?

I'm using drivers 175.19 in VISTA 64 SP1

Cheers
Sergio

Strange issue, was the ambient temp very different from when it would pass compared to when it wouldn't pass?

Try 684/1782/1116 @ 1.42v and see if that remains stable. Do a complete shutdown, let it cool off for an hour or so, then turn it back on and retry it. I didn't have any issues like that, if it was stable on one occasion it remained stable afterwards.

Hope you can sort it out mate.

Your pensil mod blew away ?

test by lowering mem to default speeds!

Yes, that was my next suggestion, lower memory speed to 900 - 1000 (DDR1800 - 2000) and leave core/shader at 684/1782 @ 1.42v and re-test. What happens if you do this?

Also I would recommend doing the hardmod for the memory, it is much more accurate and will not change over time.

Hey guys

Well also I was on that conclusion, pencil in the vmem don't seem to be so accurate but it remained exact on same volts also i tested an air compressor on to them and it doesn't go out unless you use and eraser...Then I started to thing about shaders...So i decided to run lower on shaders and worked 6loops of 3dmark06

vmem i give it an extra 2,37 gpu is 1,5

my final and at last stable OC is 702 / 1728 / 2232

I also put a fan under the card near to the PWM (as recommended by Cryptik) and it's IDLE at 44C load 52C

I think you will say that vmem is high but needs this to get on 2214 o 2232, everything lower than that just 2106

And of course Tim i gonna buy today a 20k multiturn resistor to do the hard mod to the mems this pecil is really a pain, only thing is that i have to take out the block and all the involves that as my case is small it'll by another pain lol

Thank you for all your comments
Greetings
Sergio

I did the vmem hard mod and test don't pass...I will start from scratch testing again hope nothing is damaged...
vmem is very accurate now that i have the 20K multiturn preset

do you think doing the OVP worth it or can be something affecting till 1,5 ?

let's see if i can make it stable again

Cheers and thanks for the help
