ok well got my watercooling rig up and runnin....... but all the colors were ****ed so i restarted.... stickk ****ed....... and artifacts too at stock speeds...... What could this be from?
I know it's not too hot because the back of the gpu doesnt even feel warm.
Nothing inside is leaking either.
Only thing I can think of is when my dad was yanking the card around with the connections n **** it looked like it was gonna break, could that have done it?
Or could it be that the waterblock is on too tight?

Waterblock is either on too tight, or your dad screwed something up. Do you get artifacts in BIOS & Windows, as well, or just 3d stuff?

ROFL, I'm from Vancouver too! Wouldn't you know it, three sole Vancouverites in the same thread.
Hey, do you know where I could pick up VR's and/or SMD Grabbers here? I'm having a hell of a time finding some. :(
Edit: Btw, (as I mentioned, I live in Vancouver and) I'm not having this problem with my 9800 Pro.

Right... either your PSU is too weak for the card, or whilst fitting the block some components have been knocked off the board or the GPU Core crushed... basically.

Remount the block and check very close to see if anything is on the card that shouldn't be(like thermal compound) especialy around the ram. I had the same problem when I put ram sinks on my 9700p. Took the sink off I thought was the trouble cleaned the card. Worked perfect ever since then.

Hmmm I have had this problem too, but I put it down to pushing the card too hard. I had it running at 490/370 before it died. My waterblock (waterchill) was seated correctly, with no leaks. FWIW I tried it on air, and had the same problem. I was getting artifacts at bios level too. Yet it worked fine in 3dmark beforehand. I had lots of texture tears and sparklies but I thought so long as this was just for a few minutes benchmarking it would be fine. I got through 3dmark01, received 22950 marks for my time and then the card promptly went tits up at the next reboot. I still think this was strange.

This is a long shot... But perhaps this is an effect of the pins around the core's die overheating? I remember having heavy BIOS/Windows artifacting when I was direct die water cooling my 9800 Pro. The pins were covered, and were probably overheating. Anyway, it's a long shot, but something to consider (I've also noticed that the stock HS has little ventilation holes, possibly for this reason).

How can you tell what chips you have? I've got a Powercolor 128mb 9800Pro just arrived and it has Sammy chips but not sure which ones

wow, that's good isn't it?
I'm watercooling the gpu at present, but I can only get to around 440/370 before artifacts appear in Aquamark.

if you removed the shim the colors are probably the result of overtightening the mounting screws .. same happened to me .. couldnt find a fix for it

This is the thing - I didn't remove the shim this time - I kept it in place purposely. The contact was very good when I removed the block so I'm not sure what the problem was. I'm sure it was capable of more. It was giving me consistant results in 3dmark01 of around 22500, and around 55k in Aquamark. But I'm sure with better cooling (ie a better watercooling solution) it would be better still.
