I have a 9800 Pro in my Intel rig, but used this great PNY 4400 that was really a 4600 and ran like one for my AMD rig. It overclocked like mad.

I rma'ed it 6 days ago, and got it back today. Not a bad turnaround.

But I got sent a new FX5600 Ultra instead.

I know Valve said Half-Life2 runs better on a 4600 then the FX cards. I think the 4600 is faster.

What say you guys? Did I get a fair trade??

Not much I can do now

I mean they could have at least sent a 5800 Ultra.
I know if I call them they'll tell me I sent in old technology and got a card with DX 9 support.

I'm stuck...

Call them and tell than you don't want an FX piece of crap and that you want what you sent back or you will sue for failure to RMA correctly.

Well.... it's not THAT bad.... and asking for a 5800Ultra is too much m8... the 5600Ultra is "similar" to the Ti4400, and as you said it's newer..... supports DX9.... well not much of a speed based support but it's there allright...

TechTones

True not THAT bad. It's a tradeoff really. Slower with DX9 support compared to faster with no DX9 support. Trouble is how many real DX9 supported games are out there right now?

Well... I should say none real.... :D

btw. how's that new 5600U in terms of overclocking? maybe that will made up things a little bit.....

I'm still on my Intel rig right now and a Prommy.

I'll install it tonight on the water cooled Barton at 2545Mhz.
It's makes for good 2nd system anyway.

I do want to see how it OC's seeing how one site got like 492/477 out of one.

Gee I have a date with a PNY 5600 Ultra tonight :p:

At least I know she's be HOT ;)

They will probably say your GF3 is too old and is out of warranty.

At least you got an RMA...

You might be able to sell it and pick up a 4400 for similar money, ive seen some bargain ones about.

Call me picky, but how is replacing a card that was almost top of the pile with a card that is almost bottom of the pile a "for like" replacement, I'd have a go at hassling them into a better exchange.

I had a similar problem with a DVD drive and a local retailer, I took in an almost top range 16x drive only for it to be replaced with a cheap-ass 16x drive, it took me a week of going in there and giving the guy grief every day, but I ended up with a better drive than the one I started with.

Also, have a look into you consumer rights, I dunno what they are like in your home country, but over here in Britland I just printed off some documents from the trading standards website and threatened him with legal action, could be worth a shot.

:D

How does the 5600 perform in HL2 in DX8 mode? Maybe that comparion wouldnt be a bad as you make it.... dunno. There are benchies somewhere though.

NM.. here's one and it doesnt look too good:

you'll have to kind of approximate with another site that has Ti4600's or valve's first release. Those are at 2.8GHz P4 as well but valve was 800fsb versus 533. Not too bad.

Well after reading the posts here it moved me to try and RMA my Leadtek TI4600 card that has been on the fritz for some time now. I replaced it with a 9700p about 8 months ago and never gave it a 2nd thought about RMAing it. At this point and time I really wouldn't care what they replaced it with. I just hope they will do somthing about it, so that I have a back up card. The card was purchased on 4/23/02. What do you guy's think? Willl they do anything about it?

You can probably sell the 5600Ultra on Ebay and make some money + get another Ti or whatever you want.
