iPod Mods

I was wondering if any one has though about modding an iPod? I've done some o/s hacks and put Rockbox on mine but nothing major.

Hard mods? Or soft mods?

What iPod do you have, i assume its a Classic since you have Rockbox on it (Touch cant do that).

There are some nice hard mods like the iMod, but its is expencive as hell, and NOT easy to DIY.

Im running a Touch 32GB with a LOD Cable and a external AMP (Ray Samuel Audio The Predator), the sound is so much better that you would never belive me!

I want to get into hard mods so far its been only soft, I have a 80gb 5G video, the classics click wheel sucks :P My buddy just bought a Lod and a penguin amp for his 4g hes still waiting on them in the mail.

My Ipod had some pretty bad scratches on the back, so I got some sandpaper and lapped it CPU style. ;)

Hard mods are kind of hard to do with ipods, because unlike PSPs, you have to pry the back off instead of unscrewing.

only mods i have ever done are applying new themes to the menus etc....

Im not sure what the iMod does to the iPod, but they are some how byepassing a part of the audio line out to the minijack and replacing it with the line out (or what its called) in the dock port AFAIK.

The easyest way to get some nice SQ from the iPod is by using a headphone-AMP and a LOD cable (Line Dut Dock) to bypass the crappy minijack.

Dont ask for details, i havent read anything deep about the iMod or simmelar DIY mods.

Try checking out the installer libraries... I also recommend just watching some youtube vids... most people will show off the best apps, and you can decide which ones you want.

ya i have been thinking about getting an amp and using the ipod rca adapter and hooking it up to the amp that way. just need a portable amp that can rcive rca

Heres a cmoy amp in a altoids can of all things lol, guess it protects the amp well. These amps work really well with a lod and some good headphones from what my buddy tells me. he just bought one of these.

i have a 32gb touch, jailbroken and the best apps i have are nes and gba advance emulator and all the roms, it works a treat for the most part, some games a a bit dodgy though...

I have a RSA Predator and a Brainsalad LOD for my 32GB Touch, the sound is just wow, with some good Headphones (have Grado SR225 and HD555).

u cant get free apps, installer or cydia ?

and to get the roms onto ur ipod is kinda tricky, but there are great guides on http://www.zodttd.com/ if you can find them :D, but from what i rember you need to install 2 programs on your ipod, openSSH and one other (i think) and then WINSCP on ur pc, just serch around on the site and u should find it m8

I've added zodttd source to my installer but whenever I try open a package it gives me an error saying it can't decode the package, any ideas elite.ire? :D

Ok after a bit of reading it seems none of the emulators that I've been trying off zodttd are available for 2.0. I'm guessing that the ones I see in the sources aren't for 2.0 and won't open then.

tbh installer for the 2.0.x is totally pants, i get that error EVERYtime without fail, your better off with cydia.... everything you need should be on cydia

oh and nes, and gameboyadvance are for 2.0.x, but others like snes and gba are only in beta for the 2.0.x software
