It's a holiday weekend in the United States. Labor Day is on Monday. The logo change is temporary. In America, Labor Day is always observed on the first Monday in September.

No, its the first monday in september. The first of may is May Day... not a federal holiday.

Labor Day started in America back in the 1800's. It also traditionally signals the end of summer. May Day is also known as International Workers Day. It was inspired by Labor Day. But I think the U.S. has been hesitant to recognize it because of its long association with communism, especially the old Soviet Union.

weird the 1st may date was chosen because of the Haymarket affair in chicago 1886 or at least i learned that at school like 10 years ago xD

The U.S. government probably does not commemorate the Haymarket Affair because of the circumstances surrounding it. Someone threw a bomb at police officers, killing at least one of them. A number of other officers died, most likely from friendly fire. Civilians were also killed. Several people were later put to death for taking part in the incident.

Sierra's right. Well before the Soviet Union there was socialist movements that would have been trouble. etc etc...

Hence perhaps the use of "MayDay MayDay" to signal distress?

It looks awesome and I wish it was permanent. I'd buy a t-shirt like that in a heart beat.

I would too. It's a kickass logo.

Shame it doesn't reflect the international nature of the community though.

I meant with respect to it being used as a t-shirt logo is all.

I think you need to remember that this site is based in Las Vegas, so any US federal holidays will be reflected here. Just like websites based in other countries would/may celebrate their federal holidays.

Ya know what? This isn't worth the grief.
