Well I finally decided to try a 2x2GB kit and purchased the Mushkin 996622:
http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/memory_detail.asp?id=666
These are 2x2GB DDR2 800 @ 4-4-4-12.
This is my first impression, since I've only had them a day.
If you try the Ascent, be careful to only push on the pcb board when you install them (don't push on the heat spreaders). The Ascent feature a new technology in heat dissipation not unlike Corsair Dominators although they are a little wider. Since these are PSC chips, I don't think heat would be much of an issue anyway.
Booted right away on JDEC settings. Ran Memtest once without OCd processor and had no errors so I decided to go to work. Cranked up the E8400 to 427 FSB (3.8 GHz) and raised the strap to 1:1.25 (4:5). The RAM cranked up to 1070 MHz @ 5-5-5-15-52-4-4-4-4 (yes, 2x2 GB PSCs need 50+ on tRFC). Passed Memtest without error. Lowered the FSB and raised the strap to 1:1.5 (about 1150 MHz) but wouldn't post. I'll let you guys know what happens after I work on them longer.:p:
Here is validation:http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=410566

Update: Passed Memtest at 1100MHz @ 5-5-5-15 (That's a 38% OC!)
Final 24/7 is 1070 MHz 5-5-5-12-48

I wouldenīt call it an 38% OC because you are running 5-5-5 and not 4-4-4 as default. Whatever itīs nice speeds for 2x2GB.

5-5-5 less 4-4-4=1-1-1
OK 38-3=35% OC!
:ROTF:

Seriously, the way 2x2 kits OC and for DDR2 800 I'm very pleased.

OC is short for OverClock. His memory is running 38% over its normal clock, so it's a 38% overclock.

Thank you. Now I'm actually runng 1070 MHz 24/7, so I guess it's really 34%.
Thanks for the ramlist rOOn.
