View Full Version : URGENT: Got a 2500+ AQXEA SPMW, but NOT a "y" (it's a "9")

Should I exchange it for a "Y"? (my dealer is understanding, so he'll do an over the counter exchange - if they have one, that is) I seem to recall "9"s being horrible overclockers... And I sure as hell don't want to waste this on a prommie! Anyway, hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject (ASAP :)).

Thanks,
Mike:toast:

If you can get the same with a 'Y' then do it!

Will he be understanding if you test out the chip you have first?

So 9's are, in fact, bad OCers? :(

Nope, I have to keep it sealed. He MIGHT take it back once it's open (if it was, say, defective ;)), but there is a good chance he wouldn't. I certainly don't want to take the risk.

Please, this is urgent! I'm dying to open this Barton, but I don't want to regret it later!

Any more opinions? Just a single sentence is appreciated!

I have a week 30 '9'. Not a shocker, does over 2500 on water, but then again not brilliant. Does about 2550 on 2.12V with a Cascade block.

I think I'm just going to go ahead and open this one. If it's a lemon, I'll use it in a client's machine. :)

I had a 2500 0334 "Y" that wouldn't run stable at 2500mhz with 2.15 volts, temps never got above 27c w/LRWW.
I have a 2500 0331 "9" that does 2400mhz with 1.85 in the same rig. I'm not realy sure about these new chips yet myself. I have a couple more "Y's" that I'll be trying in the next few days, probly by late saturday night.

Well, I put it in, went to 200x11 at stock voltage, booted... But it errors at Prime95 within seconds. Oh well, live and learn. :(

The third line should begin with it... (or with a 4, Z, F...) :)

An RMA'ed (read "used") NF7-S rev 2. It's even got pencil checkmarks on all the major chips (quality control).
