Hey all,

I've been thinking about the Bartons, and my Prommie!

Every 2500+ I've had has hit a wall @ ~2.65GHz-2.7GHz with ~2.1v!

2.8GHz is stable with each one, but with 2.3v and that kills my FSB!

Thing is, my 1700+ is Uber in my Prommie, 2.8GHz with 1.8v EVERYTHING stable!

I know this could just be a good chip, and the Bartons not, but it got me thinking!

Is it possible that the Prommie head has contact problems with the Bartons? Even a gap the size of the TIM on the core could make all the difference so I was just thinking that prehaps by lowering the head more(How could I by the way?) would it get me past this bloody wall?

I've tried the following 2500+'s:

AQXDA Week14 #~200
AQXEA Y Week27 #~700
AQXEA Z Week30 #~500
and now an AQXEA Y week27 #77

But even with such a low chip number it hasn't improved upon ANY 2500+ I've had in it! This latest chip is 2.4GHz stable with 1.6v, 2.5GHz stable with 1.65v, 2.6GHz with 1.75v, then the wall appears and it jumps to 2.1v for ~2.7GHz and 2.3v for 2.8GHz!

Can anyone shead(sp?) any light on this at all?

Are they just 'bad' chips? Or is something else affecting it?

Its like the Tbred A's *almost* :(

It could be the contact but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Spelling is "shed" :D

So just chips that won't do it then?

I'm going to try the latest one with my SLK900u and a Smart Fan II on full to see what I get with that!

I think all your luck went out on the XP1700+ :)

I have had three XP2500+ and two of them could barely do 2.5GHz while the third and latest one is doing 2.8GHz at 1.9v

Don't suppose you could post the complete stepping could you?

I've got a week15 2500+ coming soon, does just shy of 2.6GHz with 1.92v with an SLK, so I'm hoping for good things in the Prommie!

Here it is:

One of the two CPU's that could only do 2.5Ghz was a week 15, it did 2.6 in 3DM but only 2.5 for 24/7.

So is it the AQZEA bit that gives it the real punch? Or just a lucky chip?

Oh, and Liquide. are you the same guy from MO/FM?

Not sure, I really want to go back to the store and get a AQZEA 0332 Y.

See if it will overclock any better, could just sell it if it's worse.

The one and only :)

I thought so! :)

If you do get another AQZEA chip, please do post and let us know how it compares!
