Steps:

1> install vista64 and updates
2> install steam
3> reboot windows. press F8 during setup, disable driver signing
(details here) (http://www.security-hacks.com/2007/05/07/vista-disable-driver-signing-verification-in-64-bit)
4> attempt to run any installed hl2 game, for example counter-strike source

Results: windows closes steam.exe due not responding error

expected result: game to launch properly

note: I had steam installed before vista, on a seperate drive. when steam was first launched on vista64, it gave a pop-up that specific security feature of steam must be installed -is there a way to uninstall this?

its part of vac3, right now the hackers are using non system drivers to do their stuff so vac3 is making it so no hl2 with out driver signing

does anyone happen to know if there's a crack (maybe for offline mode?), or is the driver-signing only steam.exe specific, and not hl2.exe?

fortunatelly i only use non-sgined drivers for ati tray toosl and cooltemp, but all my other stuff seems to work fine, except steam

if driver signing is off, signed drivers should sttill run fine, windows just lets unsigned drivers to run, right?
