So I have an old pentium 4 on socket 478 and I just purchased a xigmatek tower (S775) thinking that my P4 was S775, which it obviously was not. Does anyone have any idea on how to pseudo-mount it or get it on there?

oh... you mean the cooler... I'd look for a mount kit they might sell, create your own mount system, or sell it. Personally I'd just sell it.

should be eazy most 478 socket clips are 1 strap down the middle and screwdriver notch on 1 end other end will be plain ole 1 or 3 hole end strap just slide it on top of the 775 sink
dont have a xigmatek to look at here but just take off the 775 bracket or rip it off hahahaa

Si, sell it or keep for next 775 sys.!
They better solution might be to buy a used 478 and replace the fan by a new one.

Edit: Most vendors got a compatibility list to avoid your problem. Except Xigmatek, no motherboard list available.
