Does anyone have a link to a guide that explains what to remove from windows to get every last bit of performance out of a box?

I think PCStats.com and TweakTown.com may have some interesting guides regarding tweaks for Windows XP

Yeah, I second the Blackviper link. He has a lot of really good info on there. Excellent source especially for a independent site.

Yeah, blackviper is great - I made a list of services to disable when I reinstall, that is based on that site. It's good to check by every so often too, as he updates frequently.

Rojaks BIOS Optimization guide is also a nice useful tool for getting the most out of your Bios and understanding those weird BIOS options that have no explanation

ridiculous... thats the last time I recommend that.
theres a thousand resources out there, toms hardware, and anandtech don't charge you, why the hell would a place like that?
I've only needed to use that site 2-3 times with my NF2's.
seems everyones only trying to make a buck off you these days.

The best Windows XP tweaking guide IMO is Tweakhound's...

There are also various great guides here...

I've read some of his rant and i mostly disagree with him (like the amd rant and that oc'ing is useless). I printed his article on win2k and i'll see what its worth

All of these pages are exactly what I have been looking for. I am going to get a strictly benching partition with a seperate os install and want to strip down and lean up xp to get those few extra points. I think all of these pages are going to help a ton! Thanks guys

With my nem bartons and r9800pro coming up this really is a help to me...
Now I've got everything it takes to get about 20k I guess...

Well, once you've combined all the relevant tips off all of those sites, why dont ya try writing your own guide to tweakin' yer windows installation and shove it up here...

Saves us huntin links all over the place :)

Looks like some very good information about getting the most out of Windows. I'm hoping that it will help me improve my 3dmark score some, at least until I can volt-mod my video card.
