Overclocking a 4870 x2

I just started benching my 4870 x2 with my current vista 64 install, I havent done a reinstall yet to clean out the viruses. so far with my Q6600 at 3.6 and the 4870 x2 at 800/950 I can get 19250 3dm06 and 13630 in vantage.

Anybody have experience overclocking these? At first I tried using the nvidia tool, but only one of my gpus and one set of ram was being overclocked. I found it works much better to edit the profile config files for overclocking, that way you can edit both chips frequencies.

Ive been thinking about flashing my cards firmware so I can overclock the cores higher, I dont think i'll take the ram over 1000 because Ive heard some horror stories about chips dieing like that. If my card starts to artifact/die I could re flash the origional firmware, and they shouldnt be able to tell what happened, should they?

As far as i know if you use Rivatuner it will only show one slider for the clocks, but that one slider is overclocking both gpu's at the same time. After all, what's the point in having one for each - you're not going to be running them at different frequencies.

Woops, I just moved over from nvidia, i meant the ati ccc overclocking tool >.< It actually only overclocks one gpu, which decreased my score.

I edited my config file, and its fine now. What kind of 3dmark numbers are you getting? I just reinstalled vista and got a P14072 in vantage using the 8.8b drivers.

Tf2 has been crashing after only a few minutes of gameplay, so I decided to get the latest official drivers. They were a complete failure. First thing after I got the drivers installed I started up vantage and there were artifacts EVERYWHERE! I'm rolling back to the beta now, and I hope tf2 doesn't crash anymore....
