this guy brazes with 8g copper wire, im not sure exactally what to say about this really lol, its just plain jane wire. i like in the video he says "reasons for using copper wire include desiring a copper finish.... or if you run out of brazing rod at 2am and have a job to finish" lol

figured id throw this out there, not sure if it would have any conductive advantage (thermally) over a standard brazing rod since they have a percentage of silver in them, but if you had to transfer heat through a braze i would think that this is the way to go

See though, if you have to get it to the melting point of copper, you can't exactly braze a copper evap now can you? You'd end up melting it ;)

If you are melting copper then you are hot enough to melt your block.

He's welding mild steel rods with copper. If you gas welding mild steel, just use the good old coat hanger.

works great on exhaust tube , did a lot of gas welding before migs and then tigs became popular in the 80's,little more skill is needed than brass brazing rod as you have to get to a hotter temperature for themild steel rod to flow.......

I prefer MIG or TIG for steel or aluminum.

For refrigeration tube Use the correct rod, flux if required then brazing is easy.

notice on his copper rod the pin holes in the surface.

There always a way to Getto something, but thats a bad habbit to get into.
Especially if you expect customers to pay you for your work.
