View Full Version : Recommend a CPU Cooler for Wave Master case?
I was about to purchase a Xigmatek s1283 until I discovered it won't fit in my Wave Master case, so now I'm on the lookout for a good, quiet (and not too high) cooler for my E8600. A 120mm fan would be nice because the case is too noisy as it is. I would greatly appreciate some input from the pro's. Can you help? :)

Thermalright SI-128 SE ?
Thats what I was going to say.
OK, had a look at some reviews. It seems like a good suggestion, although one comment in a review said the cooler rotates on the CPU, which kinda says it doesn't seem to hold on very securely. Whether this is a one-off occurrence or a slight flaw, I don't know if I'd be happy about that. However, I'll still consider it because it seems like it might be a good fit for my P5Q-E board. Thanks fellas, I appreciate your replies.

If you're worrying about bad mounting system look at Thermalright Bolt-Thru Kit. I think it can hold any heatsink for LGA775 socket, but I'm not sure.

I will say... Nocuta NH-U12F

I actually ordered one from a guy on eBay when I was planning on buying the s1283 but I had to cancel the order when I found out the cooler was too tall.

Looks good, but again, too big. The Noctua is 158mm tall. I can go to around 140mm at the absolute max. 140 would leave me just a few mm between the cooler and the side of the case.
Man, this is so difficult. All the best coolers are too big, and there's no way I can afford a new case right now. It's damn frustrating to own a brand new E8600 and not be able to do anything with it. I can hit 4GHz with the stock cooler but I'm really pushing my luck due to high temps and excessive voltage being fed to it to achieve that speed.
I really need help on this one! It's taken ages to get this far... which is pretty much nowhere. :(

Thermalright Ultima 90?
^^ Yes! Looks promising. Thanks. Just coming back to the Thermalright SI-128 SE for a sec, does anyone know if it'll fit on the Asus P5Q-E?

Noctua NH-U9B? =D
That looks nice too. I do like Noctua stuff. I'll check out some reviews.
Right now it's a toss up between the Ultima 90 and SI-128 SE. Depends on which one will fit my board best, price, plus I need to check out some more reviews.
I've been reading about the Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme. Wonder if it's worth waiting for? The good thing is it's only 131mm high.
Edit: yes, the more I read the more it seems likely I'll go with this one due to tech specs, low price and size. It also come with my favourite TIM pre-applied. :)

get S963, is small brother of S1283 and beat all those AC and Zalman etc.
Do you think it will beat the ACF Xtreme? Some reviews say it is noisy.
