Hey guys I'm looking for some advice buying a new lcd monitor. Here is what I am looking for: a 24 inch screen that is good for a variety of tasks: gaming, movie watching and work such as word processing/CAD work. I want something in the price range of 400-600 dollars. I have read a lot of reviews and it seems as though the TN panels are not versatile enough for my purposes due to bad viewing angles. I am concerned about ghosting issues in some of the other panels such as the dell 2408 or samsung 245T. I was hoping some people who have had these monitors or other similar ones can give me some advice or first hand experience. Thanks for your help!

there's no such thing as a cheap 24" monitor afaik. i think even the lower quality ones are still pretty good once you get to this size, so ghosting should never be an issue. viewing angle will be an issue if that's important to you. i have an Acer P241W. it was one of the cheapest ones i could find, but it's very bright, has a great contrast ratio, and a fast response time. the viewing angle is pretty limited though.
even though my current one is relatively cheap compared to others in its class, it's still a beautiful monitor with much better IQ than the 22" cheapo i had before it.

I have 245t, no ghosting for me. But they say it has high input lag, that I never noticed either. It is however, the best monitor I have ever owned.

I have the Samsung Glossy 24" with the nice touch buttons.
Pros:
-Love the contrast ratio and how well it displays.
Cons:
-It's not glossy. =(
Other Thoughts:
-newegg rocks! lol!!!!!111one

...Yea I basically made fun of half of the reviews on newegg right there. I don't know if I would buy from them because of their horrible dead-pixel policy.
But I believe ASUS will take back and replace any screen bought with a dead pixel.
