Hello all, i have dfi lp ut x48-t2r atm and now im looking one to replace it. I happened to buy the new amd/ati HD4870X2 gfx card and...it doesnt work with dfi x48 mb so i need new mb.
some req, need to have more than 6 sata port, audio with optical s/pdif plugin, pref 8 phase digital pwm system. And ofc works with club 3d HD4870X2 gfx card. I dont know if im going to get another card for xfire yet, but maybe in future so 2x pci-e x16 slots.
Any options are welcome. i live in finland so all mb that are available in around the world might not be in here :D
Ofc other option is to return the gfx card and get gtx 280...

why wouldn't it work on a DFI/X48  I heard before some X2 cards (ATI as well as NVidia) didn't run on some boards, no idea why actually; anyone?

tried to clear it, tried to reflash it, tried different cleareng method, same result
The issue is not user fixable. The only two options if using a 4870x2 is wait on DFI for a solution or go to a different board.

Best Asus X48 mobo is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131284
If you don't like the price, the P5Q Deluxe will be more than enough if you are not intending to go 4870X2 Crossfire :)

Latest beta bios from DFI is supposed to fix the 4870x2 issue.

Actually Canucks found this when reviewing their X2. You might wanna wait for a new bios just in case it is something fixable.

i would move to ddr3 and go blackops if i had to change from dfiDDR3 can wait until price drops arrive. I'm not paying $280 for DDR3 that actually shows an improvement over DDR2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231167
(DDR3 1600 cas 7 > DDR2 800 cas 4, but all cas 7 DDR3 below DDR3 1600 are not worth it atm due to lower performance relative to DDR2).

but it would be worth it to get the blackops over the rampage, thats why i suggested the ddr3

I have the Rampage Formula and I love it.
+1
Asus Rampage Formula X48 for the win, considered a DFI X48 board, but too many minus points for me.
I've always had good luck and reliability with Asus.
Just thought have you tested that 4870x2 on another computer to make sure the ATI card is not the problem?
Also, depending on your comps total power consumption, that PSU might be marginal .. I know for a fact the originals don't even have a 8 pin PCI-E graphic connector, so if you used a regular molex adapter, maybe you are overloading a rail?
Also ... if you do want to go 2 X 4780x2 cards in crossfire, as you mention, then you are definitely going to need a new PSU.
